When we pass housing laws allowing people to build new homes, we mean it.
HUGE new Ct. of Appeal decision holds that CA homeowners whose ADU application was denied may sue city for damages. The logic sweeps broadly, probably reaching all housing projects subject to ministerial approval under state law -- and perhaps even more. 🧵/23

I’m going back to physical cookbooks because I’m DONE with closing 20 ads, reading your granny’s origin story, and scrolling through an entire memoir before I finally get to the actual recipe.

Both Bolsonaro and Lula’s campaign requested that the polls stay open an extra 2 hours. Baby Bolsonaro lost. Stop with the cope.

Padilla is an anti-housing politician who bragged to me about getting an affordable housing project reduced from 6 stories to 3 stories. She also said that broken street lights allow her constituents to better see the stars. And worth saying: no one has been more vindictive and petty ever since Nithya had the audacity to challenge Bass for mayor, and by extension, all the council members who decided to eat shit and pretend Bass is doing a bang up job. Which explains why this "endorsement" is so warmed over. Oh the mayor is reachable by phone? Awesome. The city is falling apart.
Take it from Councilwoman Imelda Padilla, Los Angeles needs a mayor who is willing to work with every City Councilmember to deliver lasting results for Angelenos. I’m committed to working together with our city leaders and constituents to keep moving Los Angeles forward and ensure our city is ready for the 2028 Olympics! Make your plan to vote now and get your ballot in on or before Election Day on November 3rd!

To everyone celebrating Lula’s reelection victory, I just want us to all acknowledge Erika Hilton right here. She’s a Black trans woman who became the most voted congresswoman in Brazilian history this cycle and has been campaigning nonstop for Lula in the second round
Derrotamos a Meta. Derrotamos as bets. Derrotamos os EUA. Derrotamos a milícia. Derrotamos a Faria Lima. Derrotamos a turma do Vorcaro. Derrotamos Flávio Bolsonaro. Lula é tetra, e de virada. Isso é HISTÓRIA, e cada uma e cada um de vocês ajudou a escrever 💗

In the end, Brazil really did teach the United States a lesson. They jailed the fascist, and then they defeated his political heir.

Yesterday, Brazil showed the world that the will of the people is stronger than the authoritarians who try to suppress it. Congratulations President @LulaOficial and congratulations Brazil.

Nithya Raman really is running to be the Zohran Mamdani of L.A. Someone who is pretty far left, but also technocratic, results-focused, and intent on dismantling the city's machine politics. And also aggressively pro-housing. If she wins, I wonder what other big cities could see candidates with this brand of politics pop up.

People is rural Brazil were literally taking boats, planes, and long ass bus rides in order to vote to save their democracy from authoritarianism. So we can all get to the polls early to save our democracy too.

Anti-Jewish lies through the ages: ❌ 1300s: Jews poisoned the wells ❌ 1400s: Jews murder children for religious rituals ❌ 1500s: Jews are inherently treacherous sorcerers ❌ 1600s: Jews are economic parasites ❌ 1700s: Jews are secret orchestrators of global revolution ❌ 1800s: Jews control the global currency ❌ 1920s: Jews control the banks and media ❌ 1950s: Jews are "rootless cosmopolitans" ❌ 2000s: Jews orchestrated 9/11 ❌ 2026: Jews stole your bananas and eggs The lies have changed. The hatred for Jews has stayed the same. Cenk Uygur's ad for Abdul El-Sayed isn't selling new politics. It's just recycling old hate.

Yesterday I spoke to the conference of European Democrats and the leader of the student movement in Serbia zoomed in, and was confident of victory. Their message was about corruption and costs. Truly inspiring. Historic win against a Putin puppet.
Huge shock as Serbia’s Vucic concedes to the Students List. Putin just lost yet another major ally in Europe.

It's possible that in the span of one week, Bolsonaro loses in Brazil, Netanyahu loses in Israel, and Republicans lose the house and senate. Here's hoping fascism loses everywhere.
