From the first moment he arrived at FSU, @Coach_Norvell always showed us his love and appreciation. It was always sincere. It was always genuine. And it always meant the world to us. We thank him for his kindness and support and wish him the very best. Thank you, Coach. ♥️💛

Love this. Wake Forest football coach Jake Dickert has one of the most impressive football teams in the country (the Deacs are 7-1!) and he's at an elementary school career day.

Only a God outside of time, space, and matter could create something like this
NASA's released view of Mars' night sky (4K resolution)
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
This video was not released by NASA. NASA and JPL have stated that viral videos claiming to show Mars' night sky are not real, but are composite images combining daytime rover surface photos with Earth star fields.

Just got off the phone with Coach Norvell's Christmas tree. Obviously a tough time. I told him to stand tall this holiday season for a fine family.
Meanwhile, I hear the phone ringing a lot downstairs.
Wonder what that's all about?

I think what’s particularly excellent about the opening humpty dumpty joke is they let the wordplay stand for itself. there’s no halfhearted tag to explain the joke, they trust the audience to get it and are on to the next joke immediately. i’m not sure actual WU would do that

RIP Sir Patrick Stewart, he was originally the narrator for Nightmare Before Christmas but the makers decided to go in a different direction but Danny Elfman loved Stewart's narration so much that it was included on the soundtrack. Here's Stewart's closing narration:

Oh no! I am so very saddened by this news. What a treasure this man was. I’m grateful to have been able to see and spend time with him last month in Orlando. May he rest in peace. My deepest condolences go to his family. @JebBush @DoranLex

Allison was both a giant and the kindest of souls. I didn’t meet him until later in his career and in the middle of mine, when he encouraged me to consider a mid-career decision to go to seminary, a request I took seriously because he asked.
I admired him greatly. I was never in a place to matter to him, but yet he sought me out, took the time to check in on my life and to share a kind word. I regret I didn’t reach out to him more often
The state has lost a giant, but humanity lost one of its greatest souls. I’m grateful he took an interest in me. Godspeed sir.
Jacksonville has lost a remarkable public servant and a true son of Florida. Allison DeFoor shined in roles ranging from prosecutor to priest to a leader in conservation. Throughout his remarkable life he was always guided by a deep love for this state and its people.
I extend my deepest condolences to his wife Randy, the North Florida Land Trust, and all who loved him.

In 1997, Keanu Reeves, a prominent actor, visited a modest noodle establishment in San Francisco’s Chinatown and joined the queue alongside other patrons. The proprietor, Peter Fang, maintained a policy of equal waiting times for all customers, irrespective of their celebrity status.
Inside the restaurant, Mr. Fang’s daughter, Kathy, then a teenager, recognized Mr. Reeves. Overwhelmed by his presence, she requested her father to allow him to bypass the line. Initially, her father declined. However, upon her assurance of academic excellence, he consented to a brief photo opportunity with the actor before Mr. Reeves proceeded to dine. This photograph was subsequently displayed on the restaurant’s wall for the following 29 years.
In 2020, Mr. Reeves returned to San Francisco for the filming of *The Matrix Resurrections*. Without prior announcement or an accompanying entourage, he revisited the House of Nanking, ordered his meal, and reconnected with Kathy, who now manages the establishment. He then proposed recreating their original photograph. The same individuals, in the same location, nearly three decades later.
Furthermore, the production team selected the House of Nanking as a filming location for *The Matrix Resurrections*. Viewers of the film will note the original 1997 photograph displayed on the wall behind Neo during a scene where he is consuming noodles, subtly integrating a genuine memory into the fictional narrative.
Kathy Fang’s journey evolved from an admirer seeking a photograph with her favorite actor to a distinguished chef operating the restaurant he frequents, culminating in her indirect inclusion in the film in a meaningful capacity.
While some individuals achieve renown through an outsized persona, Keanu Reeves has garnered admiration for his consistent humility and egalitarian demeanor.

Amendment 3: The War on Starter Homes Nobody Saw Coming
I’ve spent a lot of time studying Florida’s housing market, and I see a perfect storm forming.
An aging population. A coming wave of older homes entering the market. Builders offering incentives existing homeowners can’t match. Rising insurance and ownership costs. And first-time buyers increasingly priced out.
Now add Amendment 3.
It could push home prices higher as tax savings get capitalized into property values, without adding a single home to the market.
But here’s the unintended consequence nobody is talking about.
Florida says it wants more starter homes. Amendment 3 could give local governments a financial incentive to approve fewer of them.
The $250,000 non-school homestead exemption will be indexed to inflation, eventually exceeding $300,000. That means many starter homes could generate little or no municipal property tax revenue while still requiring police, fire, roads, and other services.
We’re asking communities to build more affordable housing while potentially making those homes less financially attractive to approve.
Making homes cheaper to own doesn’t necessarily make them cheaper to buy. And making starter homes a fiscal liability won’t help us build more of them.
Read the full thread. This is about much more than property taxes.
1/14 🧵 Let me lay out my Perfect Storm scenario for Florida housing and local governments as I see it.
An aging population. Older homes flooding the market. New construction incentives. Higher interest rates. Rising municipal costs. Amendment 3.
Individually, each creates pressure.
Together, they could create a vicious cycle that feeds on itself.
Here’s how. 👇
