If Texas had originally drawn a plan to net Republicans two seats, there wouldn’t have been a Prop 50. Period.
Their eyes were bigger than their actual ability to Gerrymander and the audacity of their plan was what gave @GavinNewsom the public outrage he needed to successfully launch the nation’s biggest and most effective response to Trump and Trumpism that we have seen in the past two years.
Without Prop 50, CA may have been able to still challenge Valadao in #CA22 but never have been able to pick up five seats, and would have had to spend a bajillion dollars protecting frontliners Gray (#CA13), Whitesides (#CA27), Tran (#CA45) and Min (#CA47), and even spend a bit to make sure Harder (#CA9), Levin (#CA49) and Ruiz (#CA25) were good.
Instead, we are on the precipice of having just four Republican members of Congress in California and Texas is projected to net only two from this whole nonsense.
This whole Texas redistricting was such an own goal. And hopefully a cautionary lesson for the future.
Let’s end the redistricting wars and get a real national reform done that puts redistricting in the hands of the people, eliminates partisan redistricting, and steers us away from a future filled with redistricting fights every two years!
Big House theme: gerrymandering not yielding the gains GOP hoped. At this point, Rs would be very lucky to net 2/5 seats they targeted in TX & 2/4 in FL.
Their biggest OH target, #OH09 Rep. Marcy Kaptur (D), will probably hold on. And Rs could actually *lose* seats in NC & OH.
Uhm, who came up with this California map?
If you encourage even one person to vote, you could double your impact in this election. 2026.indivisible.org/n2n/

This is important and necessary. The country needs to end these gerrymandering wars and enter 2031 with a real standardized national redistricting reform that takes partisanship and incumbents out of it.
Let’s end gerrymandering.

An important window into the challenges of these mid-decade redistricting pushes and the importance of community voices, even in a fast process.

For the redistricting nerds… yes, along with the #Prop50 ballot language, all 23 million CA voters will have the full redistricting plans mailed to their homes. This makes CA’s redistricting the most widely promoted and publicly available set of Congressional maps in US history.
In California, Prop 50 campaign has something for everyone - a great piece from @cbellantoni / feat @paulmitche11 and @MattRexroad
