Guy said to me yesterday, “Why would I read an old book when we have the Star Wars prequels?” and I’m telling you, the problems you’re having were already addressed by Austen, Dickens and Cervantes. For the good of your own soul, you have to read old books.
reading anna kerenina for the first time and at the risk of making a ridiculously facile observation it's crazy the extent to which a nineteenth century russian novel is basically just riffing on all the same bullshit we're talking about in 2026

i feel like a lot of people don't realize just how much better california is than all the other states. leaving california feels like being exiled from the garden of eden. it's so obviously worth the high cost of living

Every Jane Austen novel has at least one great adaptation, except for her best novel, Persuasion, which also happens to have her best male lead, Captain Wentworth. The injustice of it all.

not a soul can foresee how insufferable I will actually be the day we finally get a beautifully and faithfully adapted persuasion
Ma un adattamento decente di Persuasione invece, no?

Northanger Abbey is by its nature a parody of Gothic literature of the period. Its probably the funniest Austen completed novel and a filmmaker could do so mich with Catherine's imagination vs reality. Alas...for some reason its the one novel Hollywood doesn't want to bother with
I just think why make yet another adaptation of P&P which will pale in comparison to it's predesessors when Northanger Abbey is dyinggggg for a fresh adaptation

Kiwi chicks first night out, still a little unsteady but this was filmed a week ago. Dad hatched 2 chicks 2 weeks apart and dad is still fussing over the younger one. This is on my neighbours place.
