VPN's do nothing to protect you. They hide what you do from your ISP. You're just running traffic through another computer before it hops to your ISP. Use fakenet-ng, if you want privacy protection and anonymity, I recommend using TAILS or Kodachi if you are a beginner

1/43 As an old person (almost 60), something I’ve found vexing is how the most outspoken gatekeepers of so-called “Anonymous” don’t have the first idea how to be technical.
They’re like people who’ve never had sex platforming themselves as porn experts.

Try installing Kodachi. Break it. Fix it. Figure out what it’s actually doing.
Take that old restaurant terminal and see if you can turn it into something useful.
This is how you learn what computers are actually doing instead of merely being afraid of what they might be doing.

That’s why using Tails OS, Whonix, or Kodachi (this looks like it might be the one- can anyone recognize the interface?) with automated data self-destruction is always a smart move…
In the footage, two police officers can be seen “working” on the suspect’s computer. One pulls out a flash drive and plugs it in, only for the data to start self-destructing and wipe everything…
As reported, the suspected owner of the deep-web marketplace escaped punishment thanks to a police officer’s mistake and was recently released.
That's why, anyone not running Kodachi with a duress nuke-password isn't really serious about privacy at all.
And setting it up isn't too hard too!

QubesOS is neat. I like it.
I actually used Tails, Whonix, Kodachi and Parrot. QubesOS is one of my favourite.

I use Kodachi once a week and also during live consultations with my clients. Thank you very much!
