Alonso Gurmendi, who’s a fellow at the London School of Economics, commented on a post I made about how the Holocaust was not in response to something Jews did, but because of who we are.
His response was to characterize the most industrialized genocide in history as a "war Jews participated in," and imply that Jews did something similar to the Hamas October 7th massacre, which was the point of my tweet he challenged.
Jewish resistance groups during the Holocaust did nothing remotely reminicient of the Hamas massacre on October 7th, which included documented murders, mutilations, sexual crimes, and kidnappings of defenseless babies, grandmothers and young girls.
But the more important question I have is why he seems to be defending the idea that Jews derserved the Holocaust because of something we did? That's what my post was about. Why did he feel the need to challenge it?

That’s Holocaust inversion used as a personal attack on a Jew who pointed out your chart doesn’t match the ammo or the wound physics.
You didn’t answer the ballistics. You pathologized the Jew who noticed them. "Emotional block," "vile," "monstrous." That’s not argumentation. That’s trying to make disagreement with you feel like a moral crime so you don’t have to deal with the evidence.
If your case is as overwhelming as you claim, you shouldn't need the Nazi analogy or the character diagnosis.

Esther, the fact is that the higher ups defended this: the deliberate shooting of unarmed eight and ten year olds. The defense, more than the incident, is why this has so much implications for policy.
And this is not "one incident," they defended other episodes where children were deliberately shot for being 'behind the yellow line,' including in the same CNN interview.
There is overwhelming testimonial evidence - from IDF soldiers, Palestinians, and also from the doctors examining the victims - that the IDF ground troops have permission to kill everyone they encounter after evacuation orders are given (some "liberal" commanders veto the killing of young kids and women, others permit it). You don't have to like Palestinians or oppose Zionism to condemn this; nor do you have to agree with the label "genocide." You simply have to be minimally honest and decent. It's mass murder.
