Over £27m every year to pay people for doing nothing.
And they tell us it’s impossible to lower taxes!
Major investigation from The Sunday Times - the Scottish state is paying a minimum of £27m a year to around 800 public sector workers, in the NHS, councils, police etc who do not have a job, but they cannot be made redundant owing to SNP policy

Greens ban Jews and then want to legalise rapist murdering Islamist terrorists. They are a danger to this country. thetimes.com/uk/scotland/art…
You can’t interfere with a private contract and effectively give or take away 20-30% of value to one side or the other. The ECHR would shut this down before it started.
This will cause a massive run on Scottish financial institutions.
It’s game over.

The Scottish Government needs to get out of the way of local councils, and let them get on with attracting investment and jobs. Blocked yet again, the council first approved this project 8 years ago!
SNP Ministers have scuppered the Coul Links golf course near Dornoch. A major development that would have added £12m a year to the local economy of East Sutherland and created 400 new jobs.
Coul Links was overwhelmingly support by the local community. This was the wrong decision and yet another example of Edinburgh Ministers running roughshod over Highland communities.

😳 @JohnSwinney telling the Easdale brothers to “watch their language” rather neatly illustrates the very attitude they're complaining about.
He's the @ScotGovFM of Scotland, not the nation's headmaster. His job is to answer criticism, not to expel people who express it in terms he finds disagreeable.
I've experienced this culture myself. Challenge a policy, question a funding decision or expose an uncomfortable truth, and suddenly the conversation becomes about your tone, your language or your attitude. Anything, it seems, except the substance of what you've actually said. It's a remarkably convenient way of avoiding difficult questions while making the person asking them the problem.
Democracy is not simply the right to vote every few years. It also requires the freedom to challenge those in power without fearing that your livelihood, funding, reputation or opportunities will suffer as a consequence.
And that is where my criticism of the SNP goes considerably further than its apparent dislike of dissent.
My concern, informed by my own experience, is that criticism can carry identifiable institutional consequences, while compliance and political conformity can bring equally identifiable advantages.
That is a far more serious allegation than a government being thin-skinned, and it deserves proper scrutiny.
The Easdales have the resources and public profile to challenge the government openly. Many smaller organisations, particularly those dependent on public funding, do not enjoy that luxury. For them, the perceived price of speaking out can be enough to ensure silence.
A government doesn't have to ban criticism to discourage it. It merely has to create an environment in which people believe there is a price to pay for speaking their minds.
So perhaps, rather than lecturing his critics about their manners, the First Minister might reflect on why people feel compelled to use such strong language in the first place.
Democracy isn't a classroom, Mr Swinney. The electorate aren't your pupils, and disagreement isn't a disciplinary offence.
Scotland’s First Minister has told a bus company boss to watch his language after he branded him a dictator over plans to bring the country’s bus network under public control.

🔥🔥Just weeks before #Eljamel’s final surgery at @NHSTayside on 9 Dec 2013, Jason Leitch attended ex-CEO Gerry Marr’s leaving do, posting photos and warm farewells.
Backslapping all round, seemingly without a care in the world….while patients were being butchered.

Paris may be burning,
But flags are flying high.
Palestine, Communist, Antifa flags,
Are raised up high in the sky,
Now educate me if you will,
Don’t these ‘causes’ sit on the left….?
I’m not the sharpest tool in the box,
So I’ll ask instead of guess…?
If that’s the case then can I ask why,
@JohnSwinney has just said,
That £30 million of our taxes,
Will be spent instead….
To fight the right, far right extremism,
I don’t see this as such a risk,
I don’t see them burning down buildings,
Or to old people raising a fist,
And I wonder who will define far right,
Who will be the judge and jury,
And why the left have not been mentioned,
The left and their self righteous fury,
Politicians will be our demise,
Politicians that turn a blind eye,
To the obvious rot destroying society,
The real question I ask is…..why….?

What a disgraceful admission of complacency at the top of Scottish education.
English pupils do better? Dismiss their learning as “shallow”. Scotland’s results expose failure? Blame the assessment. Someone offers to share what worked? Sneer at him.
The SNP’s Jenny Gilruth and the EIS leadership would rather rubbish the evidence than confront the failure. No leadership. No ambition to match the best. Just excuses for falling behind.
Heaven help us. Children get one chance at school. These adults are more interested in defending their ideology than admitting they are letting them down.

Scotland’s politicians and top council bosses are doing just fine while the country isn’t.🙄
Median full-time pay in Scotland is around £40,000. An MSP takes home roughly £75,000–£78,000. The elected council leaders in Glasgow and Edinburgh are on about £71,500–£74,000. Ministers and the First Minister are on substantially more.
That’s already roughly twice what most working Scots earn, with strong pensions, expenses and job security on top.
Then there’s the unelected senior officers. Glasgow’s former chief executive Annemarie O’Donnell was on a salary of around £209,000, and walked away with a total package reported at over £567,000 once a large pension contribution was included. Current chief executives in the big cities are still in the £200,000+ range.
Meanwhile ordinary people face council tax rises of 4–10%, councils report hundreds of millions in budget gaps, services are under pressure, and Scotland still has Europe’s worst drug death rate.
The people at the top , both the politicians and the highest-paid officers keep receiving well above average pay and appear largely insulated from the consequences. They feel secure. A lot of Scots don’t.
When does that change?

What did John Swinney’s speech actually say about his plans for Scotland in the coming years?
Absolutely nothing - other than “trust me, it will be better with independence.”
It’s nonsense. There was no plan, no vision of how to better Scotland’s businesses, growth, jobs and households.
His speech was full of the same tired “promise” that independence will make everything better. He knows it’s a great distraction.
He celebrated sharing a stage with Sinn Fein… and wondered why it “upset some of our opponents.” Does he really need a history book?
He said they would get rid of our nuclear deterrent…but want to stay in NATO (a nuclear alliance!).
He listed at length the “free stuff”, conveniently forgetting to mention that the SNP have made Scotland the highest taxed part of the UK to pay for the giveaways.
They have no plan for pensions, but are delighted to be able to have a fight with a Westminster about them.
Talk about wanting powers over energy…but are still anti-civil nuclear and still can’t say unequivocally they support oil & gas.
His ambition and vision for Scotland is based on nothing but a lack of ideas of how to use the vast powers the Scottish government, alongside the economic and fiscal strength and support of the rUK, to make the lives of people across Scotland better today. Because they have no ideas, they need a big distraction.
That distraction continues to be the promise of independence.

Outrageous denial of democratic participation. The Scottish Government are behaving as a junta towards a critical media and a critical public. How much worse does this has to get, how much more does democracy and free speech have to be harmed, how much more damage has to be done to Scotland's economy and social fabric before the SNP are kicked out of power?
