This was a major achievement of our trade deal with Australia and hard fought!
Young Brits no longer have to do farm work as part of their stay in Australia - bringing big opportunities for them.
Typical that Andy Burnham wants to give this away.
Is there nothing this man won't betray or surrender?

Proposals include removing an exemption that means Brits donโt have to do rural work to extend their visa as well as the introduction of a migration cap

Australians are frustrated with immigration. Therefore, there'll be a clampdown on... British packpackers, including ones that work on farms, none of which is the sort of immigration the Aussies are that bothered about.
I see now that the Aussies really are just like us!

It actually is our god-given right. Australia is British and therefore my home. Just as it should be any Australianโs god-given right to come to Britain.
This latest move should be seen as an attempt to drive the Anglo nations apart and should be resisted by any means.
If we are to survive then our future is together as one.

One of the promises of Brexit was not just less immigration from countries like Poland and Romania, but freer movement between Britain and countries like Australia, Canada and New Zealand.
Brits want to come to Australia and Australians want to go to Britain. There was a genuine opportunity to make movement between the Anglosphere much easier.
Instead, Britain got the Boriswave, and Australia got whatever weโre eventually going to call whatโs happened here.

I stopped briefly to pray for the last time, inconspicuously, within 150m of an abortion clinic.
This simple act of THINKING a prayer in such a location is now illegal in the UK.

The @AustralianLabor government has reduced the allowances for ADF members serving overseas on operations to correspond to the allowances available to DFAT diplomats. Having spent three decades in uniform as an Infantrymen and Commando officer and undertaken 19 operational tours I donโt recall one instance where I shared my shell scrape, basher or trench with a member of the diplomatic service.

Australia and Britain not having open borders with each other is one of the stupidest facts of modern politics.

Find me a single Australian who wants to ban British backpackers.
We want more Brits and less jihadists and machete gangsters.

It's strange sort of feeling, sitting at a table listening to other people talk about what they think is the latest news, while I'm sitting there thinking about the attempted coup in Poland that they haven't heard anything about, because they still follow legacy media, and if I mention it they'll look at me like I'm a form of alien life.
Since 2020, life has been one big long episode of waiting for everyone else to catch up but without much optimism it's ever going to happen.
Weโre actively limiting Brits coming to Australia?!
What is Australia becoming?!

A whole different world used to exist, as AJP Taylor wrote about in his Oxford History of England:
"Until August 1914 a sensible, law-abiding Englishman could pass through life and hardly notice the existence of the state beyond the post office and the policemanโฆHe could travel abroad or leave his country forever without a passport or any sort of official permission. He could exchange his money without restriction or limit. He could buy goods from any country in the world on the same terms as he bought goods at home. For that matter a foreigner could spend his life in the country without permit and without informing the policeโฆAll this was changed by the impact of the Great WarโฆThe state established a hold over its citizens which though relaxed in peace time, was never to be removed and which the Second World War was again to increase. The history of the English people and the English State merged for the first time."
If you want to learn about what the world was like in that era, if you want to know what sort of world used to exist, 1913 by Charles Emmerson is by far my favorite

Australia is practically British. My DNA test matches with 12 Aussies, via several different ancestors from multiple British families. They are literally our cousins. Even my godmother is an Aussie.
Same King - same head of state. Same blood, same destiny, same language. We share deep history and the same sense of decency and fairplay.
Our cultures are slightly different, but we face the same challenge - the traitors in power who are deadset on stealing our inheritance and giving it away to random chancers. We are being attacked together, so we might as well fight back together.

Extraordinary testimony from the @NSWLabor Police Minister (Yasmin Catley), responsible for issuing gun licences. Almost a year after the Bondi Massacre sheโs being asked how permission was given to the Islamist killers to own weapons, when one of them was on a terrorist watch-list. Her responses will shock you.
