Nigerian national Fawaz Oyedeji, 19, has been jailed for four years after attempting to steal a £72,500 Porsche Cayenne using an imitation firearm during a meeting arranged through Facebook Marketplace in March 2025.
On March 18, Oyedeji arranged to view the Porsche through a Facebook advert, meeting the seller at their home in Southwark, London. After inspecting the vehicle, Oyedeji got into the front passenger seat before producing an imitation firearm, pointing it at the seller and demanding the keys. The victim fought back, forcing him to abandon the robbery attempt and flee the scene.
Detectives used CCTV, dashcam footage and mobile phone data to identify Oyedeji. The phone number used to arrange the viewing was linked to him, with location data placing the device near his home and the crime scene. Officers also recovered clothing matching what he wore during the attempted robbery.
Oyedeji was arrested at his home in Greenwich on March 20, less than 38 hours after the attempted robbery. On August 12, a jury at Inner London Crown Court found him guilty of attempted robbery and possessing an imitation firearm, reaching its unanimous verdict in just 26 minutes.
On November 5, Oyedeji was sentenced at Inner London Crown Court to four years in prison. Under current release rules, he is expected to serve one-third of his sentence in prison before being released on licence for the remainder.
Despite Oyedeji being a Nigerian national who has been convicted of attempted robbery and possessing an imitation firearm, there was no mention in court or police statements of any deportation proceedings or recommendation that he be removed from the UK once his sentence is complete.

"But the problem is that the economy has destroyed their purchasing power."
Tinubu's promise: "Widen the tax net, reduce their purchasing power." - a manifesto for poverty. Yet the idiots jumped on his mandate because he's Yoruba like them. Now they hunt lizards to survive.
Since I woke up this morning, I've taken my time to go through the comments, quotes, and advice people have shared. Trust me, I'm going to take every single piece of advice seriously. However, there's one advice I will not take, and that's people telling me to stay away from politics and focus solely on my business.
I think I responded to someone's comment suggesting that we should vote for Peter Obi, and I noticed that quite a number of people dragged me for it. But honestly, why should I be told not to talk about politics and just concentrate on my business? Who do you think put me in the situation I'm currently in? Is it not the government? I shouldn't talk about politics, but politics is talking about me. Do you understand how badly government policies have affected my business and my livelihood?
I'm genuinely grateful to everyone who came through for me, but the truth is, I'm still going to bear losses. And who created the economic conditions that contributed to those losses? The government.
Let me also address those who believe I made a financial mistake by opening the shop in the first place. Yes, perhaps there were things I could have done differently, but let me give you some context. My shop is strategically located between two major universities in Port Harcourt: the University of Science and Technology (UST) and Ignatius Ajuru University. These institutions have thousands of students. Do you honestly think these students don't want cookies? Why do you think I chose that location in the first place? The idea was simple: students from both universities would make up a significant part of my customer base.
Interestingly, since this whole support campaign started, a good number of the people who have shown up to support me are students from these same universities. They have always been my target audience. But the problem is that the economy has destroyed their purchasing power. These students, who ordinarily would patronise my business, are now more concerned about paying school fees, feeding themselves, and meeting their basic needs.
And somehow, I'm being told not to talk about politics?
You're telling me to focus on my business, post my products, and leave politics alone. But why can't I do both? Why can't I promote my business and also speak about the political leadership and candidate I believe can bring about the change we desperately need? Why shouldn't I advocate for someone I believe can help change the circumstances that have made running a small business this difficult?
I was fortunate that my situation gained attention and people rallied around me. But what happens the next time? Will I have to depend on a viral post before I can make meaningful sales? Is that how a business should survive? Absolutely not.
I appreciate every single person who has supported me, advised me, encouraged me, and shown me love. I will take the business advice, learn from my mistakes, and make better decisions going forward.
But please, don't tell me to stop talking about politics. The economy is affecting my business. Government policies are affecting my customers. The political decisions being made in this country have direct consequences on my livelihood.
I cannot separate my business struggles from the politics and economic realities that contribute to them. I have every right to speak about both.
PLEASE VOTE PETER OBI!!! ✌️

‘Obi instrumental to erosion control’
thenationonlineng.net/obi-in…
A former Minister of Environment, Mr. John Odey, has said former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi was instrumental to the creation of the Nigeria Erosion and Watershed Management Project (NEWMAP).
Under the project, the World Bank will finance the control and management of erosion in some states.
The former minister recalled how Obi almost single-handedly pushed for the project, even when his colleagues were lukewarm.
Odey spoke yesterday in Abuja at the official launch of the project at the Transcorps Hilton.
He urged communities to key in into the project. The World Bank Country Director Marie Francois Marie-Nelly said there was need to seriously tackle erosion in Anambra, Imo, Ebonyi, Enugu, Abia, Edo and Cross River states.
She called for ownership and domestication of the project, especially in the affected states.
The World Bank chief hailed those implementing the project for their innovation, which emphasises reclamation and control.
Marie-Nelly said: “I have visited Edo and Anambra states. Under Peter Obi, I was pleased with his commitment, which he demonstrated by being the first to pay the state’s counterpart funds of N500 million for the project. Ebonyi, Cross River and Imo states have also paid theirs.”
Environment Minister Mrs Laurentia Mallam said erosion had caused havoc in several states and deprived the people of arable land.
You have an excellent opportunity to show how superior your brain is. On behalf of your supporters who want to see Obi disgraced, please agree to a debate with him. You can even have it organised by Channels with that bitch-boy, Seun, moderating. Just one debate, Sir, please. 🙏
And with their genetically induced herd mentality, a thousand more idiots will still like @Nig_Farmer's really ignorant post and pass it off as divine wisdom, not recognising it for the illiterate trash it is.
Replying to @Nig_Farmer
A thousand people liked this post. For the same reason they read what you wrote and agreed with you is the same reason most of them voted (and would still vote) for Tinubu. We are a country bereft of logical thinkers. You need a crash course on intra continental or world trade. Imagine food production being the reason for not pursuing dismemberment of a country. Omg.
Personally, I think if you're good at farming you should stick to farming and stop making stupid posts just because you want to sound intelligent. You only expose your limited intellectual range with ignorant posts like this, eh? @Nig_Farmer
I was having a chat with a friend who thinks Nigeria is better off divided like North and South Korea.
I asked him a question
How do you intend the South would survive without food?
He had this confusing look on his face?
What do you mean the South can not survive without the North?
The South has land and young people we will farm and produce our own food.
I asked again...
With which land?
He said we have land now...
I told him no the South doesn't have enough land that will feed it's high population.
Also Southern youth aren't interested in agriculture compared to the North.
More than half of the food we eat in the south are from the North.
If you go to those states that borders the South and North (Abuja, Kogi, Kwara etc) you'll understand the amount of food haulage that happens every minute of everyday.
The South has oil, the north has food. We are so integrated we can't do without ourselves. We depend everyday on each other for survival.
We can only call for good leadership to bring out the best in our human and capital resources.
May God bless and keep Nigeria.

Keep exposing them, I spoke about opposition using international influencers since a lot of Nigerian influencers are working for APC.
I’m glad we are gradually getting there🤭🤭
Your condition reminds me of that song, "It's too late to apologise."
Cos it's obvious you realised that's your present situation.
May you come out of this experience less razz, less crude, less bigoted, and more intellectually sophisticated. Amen.🙏🕊️
It’s been a journey. It was truly nice meeting you all on this platform.
But this is goodbye.
I wish you nothing but the best — in life, in love, and in all that concerns you.
To those who have my WhatsApp or follow me elsewhere: you’re more than just an internet mutual. Thank you for the moments, the laughter, and the support. ❤
But lately, I say things and they’re taken out of context. I have been labeled “tribalistic”.
I feel misunderstood… hatèd even.
I’m tired. I want to leave so everyone can have the peace they desire — and maybe, so can I.
Please don’t reach out. Respect my privacy.
This decision hurts, but it’s one I have to make for my own peace of mind and mental health.
Thank you for the likes, the comments, the reposts.
Thank you… for seeing me.
Goodbye.

It is the very height of imbecility, to invest time and energy, in an effort to awaken the man who is determined to pretend to be asleep..🇳🇬🙄
Reno Omockery would've faded into oblivion if you'd controlled yourselves and starved him of the attention he got from rage baiting you. Today he's an ambassador.
Now, this desperately deceptive inconsequential woman is doing the same to you. Keep making her relevant. Tufia! 🤮

Remember the $43.4 million (USD), £27,800 (GBP), and ₦23.2 million (Naira) found in Osborne towers?
How the corruption was linked to Ayodele Oke, how EFCC declared him wanted….
How tinubu’s EFCC withdrew the case and made Oke Nigeria’s ambassador to France.

So Peter Obi became president after a colossal power tussle that had people in the streets, which intimately got BAT exiled to France. US tried to get involved but PO wasn't having it. His first order of action was commission a rapid construction project for new prisons. He then had the current prisoners moved to the new buildings, combed the entire government for criminals, charged them to court and had them sent to the old prisons because they didn't deserve to be in the new ones 😭
Good job. 💪🏼
After watching the Nigerian Presidency (@officialABAT) try, in our opinion, to lie by omission, we are sharing the actual court ruling with the world and the Nigerian people. Click the link below to review the folder labeled BOMBSHELL, and then review the court ruling in the documents labeled File 1 and File 2.
The court has essentially denied the FBI's and DEA's efforts to hide Nigerian President #Tinubu's alleged heroin-trafficking files. The judge blasted the FBI and DEA for trying to hide the connection between President Tinubu and his alleged heroin-trafficking associate, Agbele, and further blasted the FBI and DEA for trying to downplay wiretaps. Yes, there are wiretaps. In our opinion, the world may one day hear the voice of President Tinubu on an FBI and DEA wiretap.
In our opinion, we have the clearest signal from the court that President #Tinubu was, in fact, connected to heroin trafficking and that these documents, in part or in whole, are going to be released to the public.
