William Patten 🤔 that's the primary school with the bus stop right next to the playground! 500 TfL buses a day brake, idle & accelerate just a few feet away from where hundreds of young children play and the master plan is to send more traffic along this road? 😳 @FriendsofWPSch

96% of the children at William Pattern primary school already walk, scoot or cycle. I've visited and seen the problem first hand and this is not going to be a Mini Holland, it's going to increase #airpollution exposure for 3,500 kids whose nurseries/schools are on the main roads.

A 2019 Kings College London study showed children on main roads are exposed to almost double the #airpollution as on back streets, yet the council’s plan is to close side roads and further increase traffic on the main roads where 3,500 young children attend nursery & school? 😳

Lead story on @BBCLondonNews today. Members of our group express concerns about road closures by @hackneycouncil which would increase pollution for 3,500 children at 7 schools and nurseries @HealthyAirUK @MumsForLungs @LittleNinjaUK

Also, let's not forget the young children whose school playgrounds are right next to busy bus stops, who are running, jumping, screaming, playing in levels of #airpollution that will stunt their lung & brain growth. 😰

Misleading article @TheTimes ☹️
The road closures aren’t around a school. They are closing side roads with no schools and diverting traffic and increasing #airpollution on roads with 7 schools & 7 nurseries. These parents actively support school streets. thetimes.co.uk/article/clean…

LTNs may decrease traffic for more affluent communities with higher car ownership, whilst providing no positive change to #airpollution for communities on main roads who have lower car ownership yet are exposed to more #toxicair. 🤔 #SocialJustice
