Trump and J.D. Vance are out here pretending to care about "cracking down on fraud" because they're trying to make you forget that Donald Trump has pardoned over 70 individuals convicted of defrauding the American taxpayer of over 1.6 billion dollars

We are past the point of political disagreement. We are witnessing a catastrophic collision between unchecked narcissism and obvious neurological decay. It is the most dangerous intersection in American history: a man with the absolute power of the Presidency and the absolute cognitive failure of a person no longer tethered to reality.

If this is accurate, Elon lied about not having control over Starshield, and he lied about the administration making the decision. More importantly, why is a private citizen even *able* to make decisions that could hinder US military operations?
Incredible scoop by my @WSJ colleagues: Elon Musk ordered the slowdown of a military-grade version of Starlink relied on by Ukraine, a decision that sparked panic in Kyiv and confusion inside the Trump administration. wsj.com/world/ukraine-starli…

This bullshit project from Herts County Council isn’t about connectivity: it’s about cost cutting. This crap needs to be challenged. “Trackless trams” are not trams: they’re BUSES. Bouncing bendy buses stuck halfway in traffic; and take away tracks & you take away fixed links.
…this is a bus.

We all saw that disturbing footage yesterday of trump snarling at a reporter in the Oval Office. But do you know what that reporter was trying to ask? Trump just announced a new program that rewards people for reporting government fraud. The reporter simply wanted to know why we need this new program when we’ve already had a law doing something similar since 1863, and that law actually pays whistleblowers a higher percentage. THAT’S A DAMN GOOD QUESTION. And here’s the crazy part. There was a perfectly reasonable answer! The new program is supposed to cover types of fraud the old law doesn’t. THAT’S IT. THAT’S ALL HE HAD TO FUCKING SAY. Instead, we watched the president and vice president turn a legitimate question into a confrontation. This man is unhinged. The way he reacts to questions is disturbing. He treats every question like a personal attack. Every reporter is an enemy. Even the simplest fucking question becomes some kind of threat. And that’s what worries me. We have a president who appears so defensive that he can’t even handle someone asking him to explain his own policies. This is the President of the United States, folks. And this shit is NOT normal.

The greatest intelligence failure in American history may not have been a foreign operation. It may have been America's inability to protect itself from its own president. For years, the evidence of Trump's extraordinary loyalty to Moscow has been mounting. His admiration for Putin, his attacks on NATO, his possession of highly classified American defence secrets, and his repeated willingness to advance Russian interests. Yet the most extraordinary part of this entire scandal is the American state itself. The FBI, the intelligence community, Congress and the entire national security apparatus have proved incapable of protecting the country from a president whose conduct has repeatedly raised profound questions about his loyalty. Russia spent decades trying to defeat the United States from the outside. Now Putin can watch an American president dismantle the Western order from within. And the institutions built to defend America have been unable to stop him. What an extraordinary national humiliation.

We suspected this was the reason Ukraine’s access to Starshield was restricted. But to see it from senior officials in this reporting is still utterly unconscionable. Let’s be absolutely clear about what this means. The Trump Administration deliberately restricted technology Ukraine relies on to intercept Russian drones and ballistic missiles. It made it harder for Ukraine to defend itself and easier for Russia to carry out its deadly attacks against Ukrainian civilians. They knew exactly what was at stake. They knew that more Russian drones and missiles would get through, allowing Russia to kill even more Ukrainians. And yet they went ahead anyway. This is a deliberate weaking of Ukraine’s defenses that only Russia will benefit from. It is a betrayal of our ally that this Administration cannot wash its hands of. The American people deserve to know who made this decision, why they made it, and how they can possibly justify putting more innocent Ukrainian lives in the crosshairs of Putin’s war machine. reuters.com/world/europe/ord…

Aha. Here's a man who has no idea. We led 2 immense geopolitical changes in Europe: Thatcher's single market and Major's enlargement. This created a peaceful, prosperous continental polity for the first time since the Roman Empire. And you say we were a nodding donkey. We had weighted voting, not just one among 28. Reflecting the size and wealth of our nation. Equal to France and Germany. The big 3. We won nearly every battle because of that and our alliances with like minded members. The fact the British people never knew of our success was due to the narcissistic victim syndrome of tax evading newspaper owners and the supine politicians who feared them. The fact that our Commissioners, elected MEPs and elected ministers were influential everywhere was simply unreported. Boris Johnson's nonsense was though. Lies about bendy bananas etc. We preferred to believe rubbish than understand reality. And all about just 13% of our laws, mostly goldplated by our own civil service. It was an historic tragedy.
Replying to @eurorealist
If you believe that a country's "purpose" is to be a nodding donkey at a table where it is (in the case of the EU) one in 28, you have no credibility as a democrat, and your views are indeed utter nonsense. BTW "niche" =/= "nonsense".

“If Le Pen wins the election, it will mean the end of France’s support for Ukraine in the war, the loss of one of Ukraine’s strategic partners. Do you really think Putin is just sitting back, believing that Europe should have free and fair elections?”
I wouldn’t be surprised at all if Putin’s money and agents were fueling these protests, coordinating certain groups and providing them with funding. Soviet intelligence, and modern Russian intelligence, have spent decades financing radicals in different parts of the world. Right now, France is the main target of these destabilization efforts. If Le Pen wins the election, it will mean the end of France’s support for Ukraine in the war, the loss of one of Ukraine’s strategic partners. Do you really think Putin is just sitting back, believing that Europe should have free and fair elections? Yeah, right, haha. I wish France peace and stability, and I hope the situation is brought under control. Everyone responsible for criminal acts must be held accountable, and the agents behind these destabilization efforts must be identified and exposed.
