Liar. Liar. Forever Canada chose the legislative option. Vote in the Leg. Also, the question is purely yours. Not even the seppies wanted it. Own this yourself. This is your doing. Trying to save yourself politically. Traitor.

Please note, Albertans.
Incredible reporting by @RonanFarrow on the sheer evil that is the role of private equity in American hospitals and long-term care facilities. Pure evil.

Michelle, that is false.
The City did not change the rules days before Stampede. Operators who ran past midnight last year were told in February that updated conditions would apply. Cowboys was told again in May.
The exemption was conditional. It depended on operators managing noise, safety, and impacts on nearby residents. They did not meet that standard.
We are taking public safety in our downtown seriously. Last year several hundred people brought complaints. People reported property damage, windows shaking, items falling from shelves, music until 2 a.m., disorder, and excessive intoxication spilling into nearby neighbourhoods.
The City still permits concerts until midnight on weeknights, with cool-down music past midnight. Weekend concerts run until 1:30 a.m., with cool-down music until 2 a.m.
No gets a free pass to disturb residents or create unsafe conditions. A great city backs major events and holds operators accountable.
Rona is right. If the @cityofcalgary wants to keep building a world class city, it can't changes the rules on major music festival operators like @CowboysFestival days before their event.
Great acts won't come here with that uncertainty. I hope @JeromyYYC understands that.

This is a brilliant point.
And shows that even our gov knows that what they claim is simply wrong.

Conservatives 🔵: you guys aren’t doing anything!
Liberals 🔴: here’s the twenty new trade and security deals we’ve signed.
🔵: just paper, where are the results?
🔴: the share of exports heading to non-U.S. markets has increased by about 40%.
🔵: means nothing if it doesn’t help people.
🔴: agree, and in the past year wages have grown faster than inflation every month.
🔵: not everyone is seeing that wage growth.
🔴: it's true - which is why we’ve introduced targeted support such as the groceries and essentials benefit while the growth spreads more broadly.
🔵: we can’t afford those programs.
🔴: they’re temporary, and the IMF just said Canada has the best fiscal position in the G7.
🔴: there's lots more work to do, no-one is spiking the ball, and not everything is going or will go perfectly - but we're going to keep building a strong Canada for all.

So true.
We have a h/c crisis because we don't have enough MD's. It takes 5-10 years to train one.
Rather than trying to turn all of us into MD's and make diag companies rich we should invest in training/supporting more MD's.

The math doesn't lie.
Danielle Smith spent $17 million on "Alberta is Calling" to recruit new residents. But spent $0 on the infrastructure to support them.
Now that the bills are due and the services are failing, she’s pointing the finger at the very people she invited. #ableg

🧵Things Alberta's Premier forgot to mention:
1-Health care for asylum seekers, refugees, & some non-citizens in Alberta is primarily funded by the Govt of Canada through Interim Federal Health Program for 12 mths.
2-Alberta only covers refugees who have Permanent Residency....

More than 900 Albertans will lose their jobs, and Alberta’s Premier is simply “disappointed” with thoughts and prayers for good severance packages?
Premier, that’s 900 families impacted once these workers receive the pink slip. Alberta has one of the worst unemployment rates in the country. How are the 900 Albertans going to find new jobs? Your UCP government chased away $33 billion dollars of investments in 118 renewables projects that would have brought 24,000 jobs. It then continued with an unfathomable witch hunt on the renewables projects that practically stopped the growth of new jobs in that sector over the last two years. What’s the plan here, Premier?
This Imperial layoff is not the exception; it is an increasing pattern. There are more mergers and consolidations in the oil sands sector, and the 2020 merger of Husky and Cenovus was a prime example that resulted in the loss of 2150 office jobs. In 2023, Suncor also cut ~1500 jobs in Alberta, citing the need for better financial performance and more efficiency. Imperial’s own press release says: “Leverages technology and global capability centres to deliver increased value” with “Expected annual expense savings of $150 million.”
The UCP government has failed to act and prepare for the reality that is upon us. The sector is becoming highly automated and more efficient with the implementation of technology, which means less jobs available for Albertans.
The question is, what is this government going to do right now to support the 900 Albertans losing their jobs? What’s the government’s plan to prepare and re-orient this highly skilled labour force for the future?
And most importantly, how is the Premier caught off guard in this way? And will the Premier shut down the separation nonsense to bring back investor certainty in our province?
Albertans deserve an actual plan for Alberta’s economy #ableg
