Why does it require sanctions, coups, trade wars, regime change, military bases, and the systematic destruction of any country that tries something different in order to prove its superiority?
A system confident in its own merits does not need to eliminate the competition.
It wins the competition.
The effort required to prevent alternatives from functioning is itself the most honest testimony available about how the comparison would actually turn out if the competition were allowed to be free.

The fried chicken in a Hungry-Man dinner has soy in it. One tray is 1,270 mg of sodium.
The box says boneless fried chicken. Flip it over and the patties read white meat chicken, water, wheat flour, then under 2% of soy protein concentrate, textured soy protein, salt, sodium phosphates, MSG, dextrose and an oat binder, all fried in vegetable oil. 27 g of protein, and more than half a day's sodium in one meal.
The soy concentrate soaks up water, so the plant can pump the chicken with it and the patty keeps its weight through the fryer and the freezer instead of shrinking. The textured soy has a stringy bite, and once it's chopped up and formed with the chicken you can't tell it from meat. The phosphates hold water too, and the oat glues it all together.

Stephen Schwarzman asked for $1 billion when his partner wanted $50 million. The ask is why his first fund became a record.
1985: he had just run the sale of Lehman to American Express for $360M. He started Blackstone with $400,000, no office and no phone. Two years later he’d raised nearly $1B.
Peterson wanted $50M, enough to do small deals and learn. Schwarzman wanted $1B, 20x more. Only two other organisations on the planet had that much equity.
The logic wasn’t confidence. An investor who gives $10M to a small fund gives $50M to a billion-dollar one. The size of the ask changes what counts as a small cheque, so even people who thought he was mad came in higher than planned.
He never got the full billion. Asking for it is why the number landed where it did.
Most people ask for what they believe they can get. He asked for what would change what other people believed.
Peterson told him they were biting off more than they could chew. He was right.
There’s a June 1999 recording where Schwarzman, with no legacy to protect yet, calls their early assumption that they’d be treated like Goldman “hubris.” He lays it out and leaves it there.
