Bullshit alert. Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza should be voting in Palestinian elections. But the Palestinian Authority has refused to hold elections since 2006. And the Hamas terrorists in Gaza haven't held elections since seizing power in 2007. This is the classic deception of so many Palestinian activists: blame Israel while pretending Palestinians have no agency or responsibility for their own future.
Israeli "democracy": - 500,000 West Bank settlers can vote, but not the 3M Palestinians under occupation - 230,000 Israelis in occupied East Jerusalem can vote, but not the 350,000 Palestinians under their rule - The fewer than 2M Palestinians left in occupied Gaza cannot vote

Siri: show me the most out-of-touch Jew in America. There's a legitimate argument for Jews to vote for AES. It can no way be construed as a "moral obligation."
#MichiganSenate Pod Save America's Jon Lovett says Jews have a "moral obligation" to support Abdul El-Sayed "I just want to be very clear: Jews in Michigan have a moral obligation to support Abdul. They should do it to protect themselves from antisemitism and rising hatred in America."

I have spoken out against anti-Muslim hate in the Michigan Senate race. I will speak out just as loudly when the target is Jewish people. Let me state a little-known fact: ISRAEL GETS LESS THAN 0.1 PERCENT OF THE FEDERAL BUDGET. That’s less than one tenth of a percent! But there is an ad running that tells voters they can’t afford groceries because the United States gives so much money to Israel. In reality, the United States spends money in and on countries all around the world – but this ad singles out the Jewish state. The ad is as dangerous as it is dishonest. You can disagree with how the United States spends money abroad. But telling hungry families that the Jewish state is the reason they are suffering is wrong and shameful. Blaming Jews for people’s problems is an old story. Anybody who has read the last century of history knows where it leads. It is a dark pathway. This ad is anti-Jewish hate and should come down immediately. Abdul El-Sayed should denounce it today.

For all the people defending El-Sayed over this vile anti-Semitic ad by arguing his campaign didn't run it, remember he said the same thing during his primary campaign against Haley Stevens.

I really don’t mean to pile on here, but the full CBS clip isn’t better. Again, the formula is simple: “Hard on the government, easy on the people.” Ms. Nixon gets only half of it right, which is as good as getting it wrong: she criticizes counterproductive U.S. policy while refusing to acknowledge the authoritarian nature of Cuba’s single-party communist government. She gets deportations right, which are heavily unpopular with Cuban Americans, but that’s separate from the character of the state they left behind, to which thousands are being sent back.
Replying to @MarcACaputo
CBS deleted the post Nixon replied to & reposted a more accurate one The post I quoted accurately conveyed her words 1 week until Election Day, likely not enough time for this to burn in But for Ds to win statewide, they typically need big Miami margins. This isn’t the way

Re: "that ad is about Israel, not Jews": If there was an ad hammering on the idea that the reason you can't pay for your groceries is that we're spending too much on aid to Africa, I'm guessing few people left of center would have trouble seeing that as racist

#FloridaSenate Angie Nixon on whether Cuba is a dictatorship in interview with CBS News: "That is what people have told me. I have never been to Cuba, and so I will have to take their word for it."
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Nixon previously stated "Sí, absolutamente" that Cuba is a dictatorship in a Univision interview. CBS News corrected its post on this clip, noting it did not accurately portray her answer. periodicocubano.com/angie-nixon-ca… facebook.com/reel/114718922… univision.com/local/miami-wl…

If @AbdulElSayed truly means what he says about treating the Jewish community as he would treat his own children, then he would immediately condemn this dangerous ad as outrageously antisemitic and demand that it be taken down. If not, then he’s full of shit.
New low for normalized Jew-hate in the American Democratic Party. Very sad: Painting your political opponents as puppets of Jews, as this El-Sayed ad does, and as crazed baby-killers and money-grubbing villains who are the root cause of every bad thing not just in the world, but in your life—from wars to the price of eggs to the reason you can’t have free healthcare—is not just low-grade Jew-hate. It’s pure Third Reich stuff, translated directly from the original German. Do you remember when Jewish Democrats in Michigan explained that they would vote for El-Sayed despite his open disdain for Jews, since there are many other important issues they need him to fight for? That anything was worth it to “defeat MAGA”? Well, here’s El-Sayed’s answer to them: Don’t worry, all those issues we agree on, like healthcare, inflation, and climate change, I’m going to make them about Jews too! I will tell the public that the Jews are the reason they can’t have those things.

This is unambiguously the most anti-Semitic ad I've ever seen in an American election campaign. It scapegoats Jews by falsely claiming that grocery prices are higher in the US because of Israel. This is why so many Jews in Michigan are voting for Mike Rogers -- not because of AES's views about Israel but because of his open embrace of anti-Semitic tropes, like the ones reflected in this ad, that put American Jews in danger.
Unless Abdul El-Sayed immediately demands that this campaign ad be taken down and unequivocally condemns it and its creators, he will be exposed as a vile, dangerous, and divisive antisemite. Any (of my fellow) Democrats who condemn the disgusting Ramaswamy ad in Ohio but do not condemn this deserve our unflinching contempt.

This type of fearmongering about Israel is wrong. It is not a winning strategy for any state. It does nothing to help Michigan Democrats win up and down the ballot in eight days. Do we need to lower costs by building more homes, securing people’s health care, and creating a fairer federal tax code? Yes, we do!! How we do so is not by blaming the high costs of our goods on the only Jewish homeland in the world. I want to see Democrats succeed at every level, and that means keeping our focus on lowering costs for Michigan families and reining in this out-of-control President.
New @RebellionPac ad dropping in Michigan. We have to suffer here at home, so Israel can get all its wars. That’s why they buy politicians like Mike Rogers. He promised to serve Israel “unconditionally,” but never made that promise to you.

Anti-Jewish lies through the ages: ❌ 1300s: Jews poisoned the wells ❌ 1400s: Jews murder children for religious rituals ❌ 1500s: Jews are inherently treacherous sorcerers ❌ 1600s: Jews are economic parasites ❌ 1700s: Jews are secret orchestrators of global revolution ❌ 1800s: Jews control the global currency ❌ 1920s: Jews control the banks and media ❌ 1950s: Jews are "rootless cosmopolitans" ❌ 2000s: Jews orchestrated 9/11 ❌ 2026: Jews stole your bananas and eggs The lies have changed. The hatred for Jews has stayed the same. Cenk Uygur's ad for Abdul El-Sayed isn't selling new politics. It's just recycling old hate.

The polls were pretty good in Brazil.
Brazil elected Lula again tonight. Poll averages appear to have had Lula and Flávio Bolsonaro effectively tied, maybe Bolsonaro up 1 on Lula — so not sure why the markets had this race at 80-20 Bolsonaro. Markets might miss big in the U.S. midterms in 9 days too.

I mean Cenk is dumb and a bigot. Everyone knows this. But this ad is dumb and bigoted at scale. It’s innumerate and morally obtuse and if anything remotely like it was aimed at Muslims he and his ilk would (defensibly) be outraged. But this shit is fine when aimed at the you know who.

This is one of the most antisemitic things I've ever seen in a political ad, and it's for Abdul El-Sayed. The message: your life is hard, groceries are expensive, and the Jewish state is why. Total madness!
This is one of the most comical ads this election cycle. Yes, Americans are chatting at the grocery store about how they can’t buy groceries because their tax dollars “go to Israel” 🙄 😂 nevermind the fact that Israel has invested 100% of military aid in the U.S. economy since Oct 7, and has also purchased over $1 billion *additional* in arms, according to DoD. Federal military aid is also prohibited from being spent on anything other than U.S. arms, so the line about healthcare is even more comical. El Sayed and his Islamist fans like Cenk Uygur want and expect American voters to be so stupid they never check. Not only is this ad insane, conspiratorial, and antisemitic — it is also flat out false. El Sayed isn’t for the people of Michigan, he isn’t even for America. He is for the Muslim Brotherhood.

Just to state the obvious: It’s entirely possible to oppose aid to Israel— whether on moral, foreign policy, or financial grounds — without promoting the fiction that such aid, or Israel itself, is responsible for what Americans pay for their groceries.
