My brother invites me every other year to a convention that is appropriate for adults and teens. I love him very much but I did the math and for the same cost (plane tickets, convention, splitting Airbnb) I could take my entire family to Disneyland so I always decline lol

I don't make my kids hug 🤷 I think it's weird to teach your kids that physical affection is an obligation. There are lots of ways they can be polite if they don't want to hug and I like that they know they can say no and sometimes practice doing so in a low stakes environment

Yeah this is part of it for me. I don't make my kids hug 🤷 I think it's fine for them to not hug an adult who is weirdly insistent on it. They are affectionate children who choose to hug appropriate family members 99% of the time. Even if you make kids hug grandma you do have to
