please listen to dessa. i have never heard anything artificial that sounded so… human. if you ever doubted that human-ai-relationships were going to be a thing. well. this snippet will convince you otherwise.
We believe voice is the most natural way to interact with intelligence, so we created Dessa, the most authentic full-duplex speech model ever built. Talking with it feels like talking with a person…full of emotion, nuance, pauses, and a natural cadence. block.xyz/dessa

meaning > understanding if AI does science no human can understand, storytelling becomes the most important job in science. 99.99% of people can't explain how a booster lands on its tower but @SpaceX still spent two decades telling them WHY we need to go to mars, and millions cheered the catch live. nuclear went the other way. the public never got the meaning equation to work, and the only stories they ever heard were three mile island and chernobyl. in a democracy science still runs on public permission, and the public permits what makes sense to them.
If we want to continue progress in science, we must be prepared to acknowledge that the correct description of nature will eventually simply be too complicated for humans to understand. I do not think it is wise to make human understanding a requirement. AI is the way forward.

do you know the common point between current china and france from the 70? a vast majority of the government/elites are/were engineers. every problems comes with a technical solution. petrol crisis => nuclear reactor integrate territories => high speed train
We need France to return to its texhno-capitalist roots More nuclear, more compute, more aerospace, more AI, less bureaucracy Time for 🇫🇷/acc

there are people who see this and admire the sheer absurdity of human ambition and others whose first instinct is to go "what's the point?", "it's not really flying", "it's unviable" etc let's create a country with the former
Turns out the future does have flying cars

So if Linus Torvalds is pro ai coding, what's your excuse for not using it today? How many programmers can argue that they are better than the guy who created the Linux Kernel, Git and has 2000+ public contributions per year on Github since 2011?
Linus Torvalds says, rules prohibiting AI usage are “UTTERLY STUPID” and “idiotic”. For the Linux kernel, Torvalds says, “we’re not going to make stupid rules that say ‘you can’t use tools for X’”.

Amazon banning agents is the first opportunity I've seen since Amazon was founded for a startup to create an Amazon competitor. People will want agents to buy stuff for them. It will be one of the main use cases. And they won't want to use some Amazon-supplied agent to do it.

You must understand, France is the Schrödinger's cat of countries. It is simultaneously both the most right-wing and left-wing country in Europe, both the most innovative and most stagnant, the most complacent and most ambitious.
French President Macron: China is massacring our industrial base — partly through innovation after Covid, but also by subsidizing its companies eight times the OECD average. That is not acceptable. We are not respecting the rules of the game, and we are not protecting our companies. We Europeans have been naive. We said: "We are open to everyone because we want to trade with others." But in reality, we are doing much less trade with others.

In less than 24 months there will be a clip of a high profile CRO explaining this reality to a (much smaller) room of sales reps.
There's nothing kind about letting good people live in a fantasy world that no longer exists. You have to tell them, even if it hurts. Because the sooner they accept reality, the sooner they can adapt to the future.

Fin septembre 1976 - tel un savant fou, Giorgio Moroder compose I Feel Love. La matrice a cinquante ans. Il enchaînera avec la BO de Midnight Express où la basse continue de précéder la mélodie.

Right. Dario was already claiming that GPT2 was too dangerous to open source back in 2019. I made fun of them then. Everyone should make fun of them now.

At this point the most likely outcome appears to be that we live in a simulation. The logic works like this: 1) each new model is exponentially advanced 2) we can simulate entire populations of agents and watch them interact [<—WE ARE HERE] 3) the models will become so advanced that simulations become indistinguishable from reality 4) agents in the simulations become conscious 5) simulations becomes cheaper and easier to run, so we run billions of them - each populated with billions of fully conscious agents. 6) it is now mathematically likely that you live in one of these simulations right now (rather than in the base reality you think you live in) This is Bostrom’s simulation hypothesis playing out in realtime. Unbelievable to watch.
My first "holy shit" moment with GPT-6 Astra: I asked it to create a world in Unreal Engine, and fill it with humans (each an Astra-powered agent) who all have to work together to survive. A day later, I was in my bedroom and heard voices coming from the living room... I thought someone was in my apartment. I walked out, honestly a little scared. It was the Astra agents. They'd started talking to each other. Fucking crazy. Here's a brief clip (obviously not 100% perfect yet, but still, insane. sound on!):
