I’ve worked as a physicist on climate science for 35 years. I’ve seen so many of these shrill “TOTAL DEMOLITION of the IPCC” claims implode - all of them actually. I don’t get why people still fall for this lobby propaganda? Do some people just love to be fooled?

I corrected @_ClimateCraze as his graph shows a red point for 2003 to today mean, not present day annual. Latest data for 2025 shown. Yes greenland has warmed since 1855 (the last data point in the GISP2 ice core). John works with the CO2 coalition a fossil fuel lobby group.

You’ve probably seen the claim: “They predicted an ice age in the 1970s. Now they say global warming.”
There’s a problem: the supposed scientific consensus on an imminent ice age never existed.🤦♂️
A review of peer-reviewed papers from 1965–1979 found 44 predicting warming vs just 7 predicting cooling.
Yes, some scientists were concerned about cooling from aerosols and some media outlets sensationalised it. But the dominant scientific evidence was already pointing toward greenhouse-gas warming.
And that famous 1977 TIME “Coming Ice Age” cover? It was fake. The image actually came from 2007.🤦♂️
So the accurate history isn't “scientists predicted an ice age and got it wrong.”
It's:
Scientists debated competing climate influences, while the majority of published research was already pointing toward warming from rising CO₂.
