🚨 40 bodies recovered and buried in a mass grave following massacre of over 50 Orthodox Christians in Endeto, Arsi, Oromia Region New information emerging on November 6th, 2026, indicates that 40 bodies have so far been recovered and buried in a single mass grave following Thursday’s massacre of Orthodox Christians in Endeto, Arsi Zone, Oromia Region. According to local sources, Ethiopian National Defense Force (ENDF) personnel initially oversaw the collection of 34 bodies, while another wounded victim subsequently died and five additional bodies were brought from surrounding areas, bringing the number buried to 40. Sources allege that ENDF personnel ordered the bodies to be buried hastily in a single pit and prohibited families from mourning loudly. Additional victims reportedly remain unaccounted for in nearby forests and ravines. Meanwhile, wounded survivors have been unable to access medical treatment after armed groups blocked a privately hired vehicle attempting to transport them to Robe. Sources warn that the death toll could rise as injured civilians remain without medical assistance. Orthodox Christian residents also accuse the @AbiyAhmedAli regime security authorities of failing to protect them, alleging that officials told threatened families to either convert or leave the area. The latest massacre follows separate attacks that killed at least 60 Orthodox Christians in Arsi during October, bringing renewed attention to the continued killings and insecurity affecting Christian communities in the area.
🚨 Over 50 Orthodox Christians massacred in Endeto, Arsi, today, one week after 60 Christians were killed in the same area Another deadly attack targeting Ethiopian Orthodox Christians took place on November 5th, 2026, in Endeto, Arsi, Oromia Region, just one week after a separate massacre claimed the lives of more than 60 Orthodox Christians in the area. According to local sources, more than 50 bodies had been recovered by Thursday evening following an assault involving armed militants equipped with mortars, sniper rifles and other weapons. The attackers also looted Christian-owned homes and businesses, seized livestock and destroyed property, while bodies remained scattered across nearby forests. Local sources identified the attackers as members of the Maddawalaabuu Brigade, an armed group backed by the government that was also involved in last week’s killings in Birbona and Chole Kebeles of Shirka Woreda. Reports have emerged concerning the involvement of local government officials in facilitating the attack. Residents reportedly warned authorities days beforehand after observing armed gatherings and weapons being unloaded at a local mosque, but their warnings were dismissed. Woreda officials allegedly contacted zonal and regional authorities to reject additional security reinforcements, claiming sufficient forces were already available, while access roads were reportedly dug up to obstruct the arrival of ENDF troops. Sources further allege that local officials confiscated weapons from Christian residents while allowing other armed groups to retain weapons, leaving Orthodox Christian militia members severely outgunned. Several militia members were reportedly killed within minutes of confronting the attackers. ENDF reinforcements eventually reached the area after dark and began recovering bodies.

ዕዳ ⟡ 14 · 257 ━━━━━━━━━━━━━ ❖ MAY 1983 · THE SKETCH BECOMES A PROGRAMME Fourteen years on, and it is no longer a student's essay. 📄 THE DOCUMENT The TPLF People's Democratic Programme, adopted at the Second Organizational Congress, May 1983. Archived, and verifiable by anyone. It uses the phrase "Amhara national domination" repeatedly. "The Amhara ruling classes, in their desire to suppress the resistances and perpetuate their rule…" "the Amhara ruling classes ruled Ethiopia in league with and the support of their imperialist masters" "Nationalities shall have the right to self-determination including and up to secession." 🔍 AND ONE LINE THAT GIVES THE GAME AWAY The same document describes the 1943 Woyane as a revolt against "Amhara national domination and Tigrayan feudal exploitation." So it knew the difference. Ethnic domination on one side of the sentence, class exploitation on the other, and exploiters located inside Tigray too. It simply stopped drawing that distinction when the subject was Amhara. 📅 AND IT IS OLDER THAN THIS DOCUMENT A peer-reviewed article in African Affairs quotes the TPLF's 1976 manifesto on oppression "by the Amhara ethnic group." Seven years earlier. No scan of that one has surfaced, which is why this is the version I build on — it is the earliest anybody can open and check. ‖ Wallelign wrote "ruling class" and meant a class. ‖ By 1976 it is an adjective fixed to a people, and by 1983 it is a programme. #Amhara #Ethiopia #EthnicFederalism

ዕዳ ⟡ 250 · 257 ━━━━━━━━━━━━━ ◆ ሰምና ወርቅ · WAX AND GOLD What those closed schools were teaching. 🕯 THE METAPHOR IS A FOUNDRY A goldsmith builds clay around a wax model, melts the wax out, and pours gold into the space it left. The obvious meaning of a poem is the wax. The meaning underneath is the gold. You are meant to find the second by noticing that the first does not quite hold. 📄 HOW IT ACTUALLY WORKS Not symbolism. Mechanics. The ambiguity is built in the word itself — shifting the stress, splitting a word at a different seam, a verb ending that is either plural or honorific. A poem addressed to Menelik appears to call him a leper. Re-divide the same syllables and it reads "the sweetness of the earth." A cleric sang four lines in which Ian Smith is made a priest by an English bishop and extends his meskel — his cross — over white men. Meskel also means to hang by a rope. [ ⚠️ SOURCING · both examples come from one essay by G. E. Gorfu, citing the qiné scholar Alemayehu Moges. Treat them as his, not as canonical ] 🏫 WHERE IT WAS TAUGHT The qiné bet. The house of poetry. Gonj and Washara in Gojjam, Gondar, Sayint in Wollo, Wadla, which the qiné tradition itself places "in Lasta". The surviving poems go back to the reign of Eskender, who died in 1494. 📜 AND THE VERNACULAR IS NOT LATE EITHER The oldest surviving Amharic is a set of soldiers' songs in praise of Amda Seyon, who reigned from 1314. Vernacular verse from the generation of Chaucer's grandparents. The manuscript carrying them was copied some three centuries later, so that date is a reconstruction, not a receipt. ‖ A school that trained farmers' sons to insult a king and bless him in one breath. ‖ Every one of those districts is in the war zone. #Qine #Geez #EthiopianOrthodox

ዕዳ ⟡ 209 · 257 ━━━━━━━━━━━━━ 🕯 RAYA KOBO · THE FORTY DAYS, IN FULL Post 207 measured my most-used source on an interim update, put out while Raya Kobo was still occupied. Three weeks later the finished report came. This is it. 📄 THE DOCUMENT Amhara Association of America, "Update on war crimes of TPLF (Tigrayan) forces during occupation of Raya Kobo Woreda." Published 17 October 2022. North Wollo Zone. 🗓 THE OCCUPATION From 24 August 2022 — in violation, it says, of the self-declared cessation of hostilities — to 4 October. It calls this forty days. The dates span forty-one. TPLF forces held most kebeles of the woreda, Kobo town included. 📊 WHAT THE FINISHED REPORT SAYS "Killed at least 193 civilians in Raya Kobo Woreda and Kobo town." 📋 AND IT NAMES 108 OF THEM A list numbered 1 to 108, each with name, age, sex, address and manner of killing. Some entries lack a surname or an age, and are printed that way. One hundred and eight of one hundred and ninety-three, and it says "Many more were killed." 🩺 AND THE OTHER FIGURE "More than 143 young girls and elderly women were subject to heinous rape." That number is the Raya Kobo Women and Children Affairs office's, not AAA's, and it says so. AAA's sources "collectively said the number of rape incidents was underreported." 🏚 AND WHAT WAS BROKEN At least 70 schools and 39 health centres. Property loss "estimated in the millions of ETB." 🗣 AND WHO IS ON THE RECORD Local officials by name: Molla Derbew, Berhe Gebru, Molla Dessiye, and the Workie kebele administrator. ⚖️ AND THE OTHER SIDE'S POSITION, PRINTED "Though, the TPLF shift blames that they were attacked first and acted in defense." ‖ Fifty-three in the interim, one hundred and ninety-three when the counting finished, and one hundred and eight named with their addresses. ‖ An unfinished count read as a finished one is the reader's error, not the document's. #Amhara #RayaKobo #Wollo

ዕዳ ⟡ 245 · 257 ━━━━━━━━━━━━━ 🛰 AND NOW READ THEM AS ONE PATTERN Six schools. The hardest case is the one Amhara advocacy would cut, so it goes first. 🏫 MERHABETE · 12 JANUARY 2024 BBC Amharic: a strike near the entrance of Arbegnoch General Secondary School in Alem town, North Shewa, at about one in the afternoon, classes in session. The two killed were Fano. Four civilians were injured. ⚠️ AND NOW THE PART THAT CUTS AGAINST ME The principal, Ato Ashagrie Abebe, told the BBC himself that a park twenty metres from the school was used by Fano for "rations and logistics," and that the strike was meant for them. There was a military object beside that school, and the man who runs the school is the one who says so. 🏫 AND WHAT HE SAID NEXT "There is a cross-country road located between the school and the park. The attack was carried out with intention to take action against them. The action was aimed at the students as well." Students "tried to jump the fence to escape" and "their hands were cut by the metal." The school takes grades nine to twelve, more than 2,600 that year. They did not come back on the Monday. 🔁 SO HERE IS THE PATTERN, WITH THAT INSIDE IT Wadera, November 2023. Merhabete, January 2024. Gulo, May 2024. Gedeb, April 2025. Mahderemaryam and Sana, 2026. Three of those six have an armed presence recorded at or beside the school — by the sources I am using, not by theirs. Proximity is not a licence. It is also not something I get to leave out. ⚖️ AND WHAT MY SOURCES ARE MADE OF AAA publishes two different things. Dated field updates saying what it verified, where and when, which is what this thread uses. And press statements arguing a thesis about an Oromo republic built on the ashes of Ethiopia. I have taken nothing from the second kind. ‖ Six schools, and the honest version of the clearest one argues against me. ‖ You get it anyway. #Amhara #Ethiopia #EducationUnderAttack

Mobilizing Sovereignty: How Adwa Anchored a Century of Diasporic Identity in Brazil O Menelick! O Menelick! O Menelick! While contemporary domestic politics and ethno-nationalist narratives sometimes attempt to retroactively frame Emperor Menelik II as a controversial figure, his historical magnitude as a global icon of anti-colonial resistance remains unassailable. Widely regarded as the greatest African general since Hannibal of Carthage, Menelik’s masterful 1896 victory at the Battle of Adwa did more than preserve Ethiopian statehood; it shattered the geopolitical myth of European invincibility. For marginalized communities worldwide, he became a profound source of collective self-worth and political agency. The transnational reverberations of this victory are strikingly evident in Brazil, where, in 1915, Afro-Brazilian intellectuals in São Paulo launched the newspaper O Menelick. Operating within the nascent imprensa negra (Black press), its founders explicitly mobilized the Ethiopian monarch's sovereign legacy as an ideological bulwark against localized, systemic racism. This epistemic linkage reveals a sophisticated, early 20th-century consciousness of global Black solidarity. Crucially, this continuity is sustained today by O Menelick 2º Ato, a contemporary independent magazine that resurrects its predecessor's emancipatory mandate. Ultimately, despite modern political revisionism, the evolution of this publication demonstrates how Menelik’s triumph continues to dynamically anchor the cultural production and political self-determination of the transatlantic diaspora. @OMenelick @YilmaYada @Hohe421 @jeffpropulsion @FitihiA28779 @NeaminZeleke @Benyam_Kitaw @Gobaw9 @AndargachewTse2 @DuchessOfGonder @MemiAsrat @AfricanArchives #EthiopianHistory #BattleOfAdwa #MenelikII #GlobalSouth #AfricanDiaspora #BlackPress #GlobalGovernance #PanAfricanism #OMenelick #AfroBrazilian

In one particular meeting, the PM of Ethiopia spoke about the #Amhara people in which Abiy revealed his deep-seated hatred toward the #Amhara people. From Tigray to Amhara and Sudan, civilians continue to pay the price of war. Abiy Ahmed’s alliance with the UAE demands urgent scrutiny and accountability. #AmharaGenocide #TigrayGenocide #Sudan #UAE
From Pan-African Solidarity to the Destruction of Sudan: Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and the UAE's War Machine What a historic tragedy! Ethiopia, a founding member of the United Nations and the Organization of African Unity, once a beacon of African solidarity under Emperor Haile Selassie, is now implicated in facilitating the destruction of a sisterly African nation, Sudan. In its November 5, 2026 investigation, The New York Times writes: “But none have been as pivotal as the Emirates, which has used its vast resources and close alliances with countries like Ethiopia and Chad in support of the R.S.F.” This is an extraordinary indictment of the regional networks sustaining the Janjaweed, the Rapid Support Forces, whose campaign in Sudan has been marked by mass atrocities and genocide accusations. I have argued repeatedly that Ethiopia, Africa's second most populous country, has increasingly become a client state of the United Arab Emirates under Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, whom I have called the sick man of the Horn of Africa. The evidence of an RSF training facility on Ethiopian territory, together with the UAE's extensive military support, raises grave questions about the Ethiopian government's complicity in Sudan's destruction. How did the Ethiopia of Haile Selassie, which championed African sovereignty and collective security, arrive at this extraordinary historical reversal? The international community must investigate the political and military chain of responsibility, including the role of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed's government in facilitating operations associated with atrocities against Sudanese civilians. Africa cannot afford another generation of carnage sustained by foreign patronage and regional proxy warfare. The destruction of Sudan is not merely a Sudanese tragedy; it is a test of the moral foundations of Pan-Africanism itself. #Sudan #SudanGenocide #Darfur #StopTheWarInSudan #Ethiopia #UAE #RSF #Janjaweed #HornOfAfrica #AmharaGenocide #TigrayGenocide #EthiopianOrthodoxPersecution #WarCrimes #CrimesAgainstHumanity #GenocidePrevention #HumanRights #InternationalJustice #Accountability @UN @UNHumanRights @UN_SPExperts @UNOCHA @UNICEF @Refugees @WFP @WHO @UNDP @AfricanUnion @eu_eeas @StateDept @amnesty @hrw @LemkinInstitute @CrisisGroup @ReutersAfrica @BBCWorld @AP @AFP @AJEnglish @FRANCE24 @dwnews

It is also known that numerous believers have previously been killed in different woredas of the zone." The Synod explained that its plenary assembly had observed the immense suffering and atrocities inflicted upon the population with profound sorrow. It emphasized that such acts are entirely unacceptable under the teachings of any religion and violate fundamental human rights. The statement continued: "These inhumane acts violate the constitutional rights to freedom of religion and life, contradict religious teachings and the natural principles of humanity, and destroy our national values of peaceful coexistence and mutual respect. Therefore, the Plenary Assembly of the Holy Synod of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church strongly condemns these acts." Holy Synod calls on authorities to stop the killings and bring perpetrators to justice The Holy Synod issued an urgent appeal to the relevant authorities, calling on them to publicly condemn the killings and take immediate measures to protect civilians. The statement declared: "The Holy Synod of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church strongly urges the responsible authorities to publicly condemn these inhumane acts, uphold the constitutionally guaranteed rights to life and freedom of worship, and bring the perpetrators of these atrocities before the law." The Synod further called on authorities to uphold the rule of law and provide the necessary legal protection to prevent similar acts of violence from recurring. It emphasized that the responsible institutions must fulfill their obligations to protect citizens and ensure that such atrocities do not happen again. Holy Synod demands immediate security protection for Orthodox Christians Expressing profound grief over the loss of life, the Holy Synod stated: "We urge the government to provide the necessary protection to our faithful children wherever they may be, so that they do not suffer similar attacks. We also call upon the relevant security institutions to give this matter special attention and take the necessary protective measures until the problem is resolved, working to prevent further dangers." The Synod extended its condolences to the families of those killed and to all Ethiopians. It added: "The Holy Church prays that Almighty God grant eternal rest and the honor of martyrdom to our people who unjustly lost their lives, and provide comfort to the families of the deceased and to all Ethiopians." Holy Synod announces nationwide and worldwide memorial prayers The Plenary Assembly of the Holy Synod also adopted several decisions in response to the killings. 1. Memorial prayers on October 26, 2026 The Holy Synod decided that funeral and memorial prayers would be conducted on October 26, 2026 (Tikimt 16, 2019 E.C.), by members of the Plenary Assembly at the Patriarchal See's Holy of Holies St. Mary Monastery. 2. Worldwide memorial prayers on October 27, 2026 The Synod instructed all Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church monasteries and churches throughout the world to conduct funeral and memorial prayers following the Divine Liturgy on October 27, 2026 (Tikimt 17, 2019 E.C.), in remembrance of the victims. 3. Meeting with senior government officials The Plenary Assembly decided to arrange a meeting with the relevant senior government official to discuss the killings and the security situation affecting Orthodox Christians. 4. Long-term measures to prevent further attacks The Holy Synod also resolved to pursue appropriate efforts toward a lasting solution to the violence and insecurity affecting Orthodox Christian communities. The statement concluded by emphasizing the Church's determination to seek protection for its believers, accountability for those responsible for the killings, and lasting measures to prevent further atrocities.
