The best thing I ever did was to get HTML build license for @GameMakerEngine back in the day - so easy to share progress with the team.

have you been drinking? it takes one click on one link on twi^H^H^Hx, and the game can be running on the player's device IMMEDIATELY. I believe you'll find it distributes quite well.

A bit of Dimmu Borgir while working on the game... Haven't listened to them for years.

I've been sitting on this idea but I really want to make it happen; I'd like to help fund tiny indie releases that use my assets by covering Steam submission costs, give access to all my assets/tools, advice, custom work, 'seal of approval'. Cool? not cool?

True. And we all can see what "an average idea" looks like at the moment 👍
I've been in tech for 46 years. The biggest change AI brings isn't speed. It's that a regular person with an idea can finally build it without asking anyone for permission.

Here my out. Valve did this for us. Here's the link to official Valve's Dropbox with templates, ready to use, properly prepared. dropbox.com/scl/fo/cvkwbosmr…
Steam developers -- 🖼 Here's an infographic that shows (most of) the capsules/banners that Steam requires. (Includes an example capsule for Witchmore, my game.) Do you have any tips for making images that fit within the very different image sizes? #MarketingMonday #IndieDev

When the zombies turned up in Uncharted 1.
What's your scariest moment in a non-horror game? The Lurker in Jak & Daxter still haunts me...

I was thinking of updating @vikerlane logo, but looks like @stoicstudio already has realised that idea (viking ship, red ink, exlibris look). Back to the drawing board 🤓

@grok why can't I mute these characters alone? So much spam posts with nonsens trying to engagement farm people to open up second tweet?

On a totally unrelated note to my tweet that has moved outside of my circle: Check out some articles on Indie Games made by human people on some websites I run: bigbossbattle.com/ indiegamesplus.com/

If you are doing game dev, better start thinking about alternative ways to drive traffic to your profile as platform own traffic might get divided by thousands of entries.
Valve says it has "a significant number of people" trying to solve Steam's issues with new game visibility (especially during Next Fests), but that it doesn't plan to start "gatekeeping" bad games or those made with AI. videogameschronicle.com/news…

AI enthusiasts won't see it this way, but game devs and gamers probably will. Everything becomes throwaway content, a YouTube short.

And everyone else also has access to these tools. In my world, AI solved problems that didn't need to be solved (more games) and created new problems in what was already challenging (live operations and publishing).

Well, no one talks publicly unless they have a skin in the game. So seems plausible that if they want to make their engine certain way, they'd want platforms also accept the results, otherwise they are dead in water. But also, you can tell without the label.

Do we actually need next hyper-expensive Xbox or PS5? Feels like GTA6 would be the first real "next gen" game this gen anyway 🤷

I don't know if it would help or if it can't be hacked, but maybe some sort of Early Access activity gate? Ie if devs engage with players, there's clearly longer process longer updates. Or heck... why not go to the source, you have to share git repo and you validate commits.
What if @valvesoftware just outright banned AI art in games on it's platform? Apart from Tim Sweeney bitching about it on twitter, what are the downsides?

In this messy discourse of ai-slop this, slop that, what's real gamedev, ceos etc.. I want to remind all developers of this. Do not buy into the fear mongering that #indiedev is dead. The amount of games you compete with is _the same_, literally hasn't changed in years.
Putting a game on Steam costs $100. You get it back once the game earns $1,000. By October 2025, about two-thirds of that year’s releases hadn’t made $1,000 yet, per Gamalytic. Most new Steam games haven’t even paid back their entry fee. Did yours?

🧑‍💻 Dev log Not exactly a game feature, but sometimes I have to build stuff for myself too 😅 Added a little helper step to debug enemy AI, with a few more layers to come soon #gamedev #behindthescene #indiegames
🧑‍💻 Dev log Implemented the new piece upgrades UI. Was never really happy with both "Upgrade" and "Continue" on same view, so now there's only one action button. #gamedev #indiegames #viking #chess
