Poverty & discrimination hit hardest in tough times — and in Canada, the most vulnerable always pay the heaviest price. We can look away… or we can act. At the @SappaniFdn, we choose action. We help BIPOC girls in Canada break cycles of poverty through education. In our 5th year, we’ve partnered with @CNIB to create an annual award for BIPOC girls with vision loss pursuing post-secondary dreams. Meet our 2025 recipient: Keerthana Kelly Blind + hard of hearing, yet unstoppable. CICE student ✓ Church & community volunteer ✓ Mentor to others ✓ Pure resilience. She reminds us exactly why this work matters. If your company has a CSR program, ask yourself: where can your support change lives the most? #Education #GirlsMatter #BIPOC #DisabilityInclusion #PovertyReduction

Go to your nearest pharmacy and get your flu shot esp if you are 50 + .
Encouraging early news from Canada’s flu season: All 116 flu virus samples tested so far match the strains targeted by this year’s flu vaccine. *It’s still early, and things can change* but the takeaway is simple: this year’s flu shot appears to be a good match so far. 🇨🇦 🇨🇦 🇨🇦

Hemkund Sahib is a remarkable place, and its story is worth knowing. At nearly 15,200 feet in the Garhwal Himalayas, beside a glacial lake surrounded by seven snow covered peaks, stands one of the highest Sikh shrines in the world. Its significance comes from the Bachittar Natak, part of the Dasam Granth, in which Guru Gobind Singh Ji speaks of meditating in a previous life at Hemkunt Parbat, Sapt Sring. The story of how the present day shrine came to be is equally fascinating. Pandit Tara Singh Narotam had traced its geographical location back in 1884. Later, the writings of Bhai Vir Singh inspired Sant Sohan Singh to search for the sacred site. He identified the present location in the 1930s and the first small Gurudwara was built in 1935. There is also a Lakshman temple beside the lake, reflecting the Hindu belief that Lakshman meditated here. I find this particularly fascinating about our Himalayas. These mountains have been a source of spiritual inspiration for centuries. Hindu temples, Sikh Gurudwaras, Buddhist monasteries and Jain pilgrimage sites all find their place in this extraordinary landscape. Different faiths, different traditions and different ways of seeking the divine, yet all finding something sacred in these same mountains. I have been to Hemkund Sahib just once. The trek is steep and treacherous in parts, and the altitude makes you respect every step. I would love to go again. Perhaps some of my Sikh friends will take me along on their next pilgrimage. Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh.

Ignore the noise. Work hard and you will get here. Remember, kids: MAGA hates Indians not because we are social leeches, but because we are furthest from that—the most successful immigrant group—and there is only one reason for it: hard work.

Agreed. Let this not be an abuse of work permits like in US H1B. Categories like accountants should not need foreign workers. The LMIA exemption should be for categories like doctors, jobs in rural and remote regions and specialized skills jobs that are highly paid and scarce in Canada.
KPMG is trying to hire 15 foreign accountants in downtown Toronto at $80,000+ each. In four days, Mark Carney will let corporations hire high wage occupations from abroad without even trying to hire a Canadian first. Toronto’s unemployment rate is sitting at 7% with youth unemployment at 17%. KPMG should be hiring and training Canadians, not getting a free pass to bypass local workers.

a lot of the ER visits are patients who can be seen by a walk-in clinic but their FHO doctors tell them not to go to walk-in and go to ER. Lot of them go to emergency in hospitals to get prescription renewal 🤷‍♂️

For all the people commenting ignorantly on this need to know HK has over 90% Cantonese speakers and around 2% Mandarin. Mandarin is the language of the communists and Cantonese is the language of Hongkongers

Some of the dumbest are some of the smartest people. It is not hard to google these things but they don’t and they think they are privileged but also FRRO are dumb fcks and fines wasoli is a pain. India needs to remove 5 layers of stupidity and simplify things . I have had some amazing experience with BOI in chennai going out of the way to help and some painful ones where FRRO guy bluntly told me you are right so go to court or just pay the fine and move on. He literally told me he has a quota for fines and if I go to court I will win , maybe after 5 years but I can’t leave the country till then , so your choice .

Hi @MichelleRempel. As you likely know, this was testimony from the Canadian Federation of Independent Business, with 103,000 small businesses as members. The average CFIB member has 5-25 employees and pays us a membership fee of a few hundred dollars per year. And while most are indeed incorporated, your post is quite misleading.
Corporations looking for more temporary foriegn workers can afford to hire lobbyists to advocate on their behalf at Parliamentary Committees. Unemployed youth can't. Glad to see Conservatives like @grantjacksonMP fight on their behalf. ⬇️

That said Indian antiques are well preserved and respected in western museums than Indian museums . Chennai has the worlds largest collection of lost wax bronzes and the museum is leaking when it rains 😭😭
