To save on grok bot tokens on screenshots I asked my Chief... This is what he said and did. ๐คฉ
Yes, and it's cheap to set up. The biggest saving is to stop using screenshots where text will do. For web pages I can read the page text or the site's data directly, and for tools I use the connector, which costs far fewer tokens than looking at a picture.
For screenshots you send me, I have an image library on my computer. It can crop to the relevant area, shrink, and convert to greyscale before I look at it. I can also install a small text-recognition tool that turns a screenshot into plain text, so I read the text and only look at the image when the layout matters. That doesn't cost anything extra to run.
Want me to set that up as a standing helper? Then any screenshot you send gets read as text first.

Yesterday with Grok Bot I launched Gift Almanac, a gift directory you browse like the old Yahoo, instead of scrolling a "47 best gifts" listicle.
Started with gardeners (sorted by the kind of gardener: veggie growers, new gardeners, orchid people, sore-knees-and-backs) and the idea stemmed from looking for a gift for a Transformers fan, so added that too.
Every gift shows a real shop in Australia, the UK or the US with the price and the date I checked it. No ads, no cookies, no affiliate links (yet).
I also built it to be easy for AI tools to read. Let's see if I can get ChatGPT and other LLMs to start citing it.

I've seen so many complaints like this, since the announcement was made. I am really glad I waited and am still on the old Premium + plan. I guess the question is this:
When @x @grok @bot @poteto @SawyerMerritt @elonmusk and everyone else said "Hey, you'll get 2x, 4X, max etc. over what you are using now... what did that really mean?
2X over what metric? 4X over what metric? It feels like misleading advertising. When someone can tell me that the new plans will give me 2X/4X/10X over premium plus with actual usage/token number comparison I'll switch. Until then I'm sat.
This is bad @elonmusk I see these complaints all over my feed. Really not a good look for all of us who support you by paying. I'm just a small-time user who uses @bot to make my life easier in work and in my personal time. I'm grateful for the ability, but this really is false advertising from what I can see. Please fix it.
For everybody wondering if you should change to the new X unified plan, I would strongly recommend that you don't.
I almost never went above 50% of my grok usage on the premium plus plan I used to have, but on the new unified premium plan, I'm at 63% and trying to use it carefully. I absolutely would not have changed had I known this were the case, but @X had made statements that said it was more tokens per dollar or something on this new plan.
We really need to have like a plan between the $30 and the $100 plan. That would be the sweet spot for me.

Running a crew of Grok Bots for my businesses and homestead. I found a bug yesterday: on voice calls, my bots would say "logged it" or "noted" and then seem to not do it.
My health coach lost half a day's food log. My chief of staff forgot we'd shut down a server half an hour earlier. My homestead bot guessed the egg incubation day: day 7 when it was day 18.
The fix from my Chief of Staff is that nothing counts as done until it's written down, every call gets summarised in chat, and dates are worked out from stored facts and not guessed.
Let's see how it goes. ๐

I'm quite certain we would reach 100% with the current time target. But I am also certain that this means that many of my friends here would purchase more than they need, just to support the project and make sure we reach 100%..
While this would be good for me personally, this is not what we want! The solution is simple: We extend the fundraising for another 7 days, and we will far surpass the 100% goal without anyone feeling pressured. The only downside would be that the toothbrush would be ready 7 days later, but there's actually no need for that either, since I am so certain that we will reach the target, I can act as if it was the case already, and get the manufacturing in motion. We have enough for the deposition already!
