I don’t use Figma anymore. For the past six months I’ve been uploading my consciousness directly into the ether and allowing the work to manifest through minor disturbances in the electromagnetic field. You think you are seeing the aurora borealis that's actually my brain waves. It’s a much more intuitive process. I sit completely still in my office until a founder somewhere develops a sudden inspiration for their brand positioning but in reality it was me clipping them in their brain stem, smiling down on them like one of God's children. People keep asking what tools I’m using. I understand the question. I used to think that way too. But asking me what tools I use is like asking a glass of water what software is wetness. Its a meaningless question. I don’t design anymore. I am the pixels. I am the logo. I am the little bit of space between the 'r' and the 'n' that you better make sure is kerned properly. When you increase the font size I experience physical growth. When you cut a vector point, my consciousness goes into quantum superposition. This is where the industry is going. If you're not on board, you're going to get left behind. My entire design system now lives in the collective unconscious. There’s no documentation. Your team will simply wake up knowing the button radius. If someone uses the wrong shade of blue they’ll hear a high pitched ringing sound until they correct it. Developer handoff has been so smooth since I started working this way. My effigy appears at the foot of the engineer’s bed and I open my mouth. The CSS comes out at a frequency only their fillings can receive. We’ve eliminated all meetings. I no longer send clients presentations. I enter their dreams as a white horse with an already complete interactive brand guidelines. They’re free to leave feedback by speaking into a bowl of room temperature water. I receive it immediately and disagree with it on a cellular level. Transcending this outdated material plane is my standing Tuesday meeting. Some people are uncomfortable with this. A procurement manager recently asked whether I could provide an SVG of the logo and I just told her to close her eyes and remember the first time she felt truly understood. She looked annoyed and just said their print vendor needed an SVG by today. A big adjustment has been personal. My wife asked if I could help bring in the groceries. I explained that I now exist simultaneously across every customer touchpoint. I think there’s a lot of fear right now about what happens when designers stop needing tools. But the people who adapt will be fine. You just have to be willing to let go of a few outdated ideas. Like having a body. Being legally distinguishable from a gradient. Anyway I am open for new branding projects this quarter.

Why do people hate AI creators? They didn't do anything.

Dear designer, don’t panic Use a barbell strategy for designing with AI Zoom way out. Work hard by hand to understand and architect systems / stories / the big idea Zoom way in. Pick moments to obsess unreasonably and invent clever twists in corners of the work where the human touch is irreplaceable: microinteractions / prose / animation / visuals / brand In the expansive middle, welcome the company of your obsequious robot underlings, and orchestrate them broadly with your exquisite taste and considerable suspicion

AI is a tool. You can use it to think for you. Or you can use it to learn and try things you wouldn't have attempted before. I tell everyone at Figma: we hired you because you can think. We expect you to think. Don't outsource your thinking to AI. Social media is not reality. Things are never as good or bad as they seem. Seeing things as they are and seeking truth are skills to develop. Curiosity must be cultivated. Pulling the level of a slop/slot machine can be weirdly exhausting and depleting. It can be hard and even anxiety inducing to step away when things are moving so fast, but time away from the computer is a must right now.

@zoink how do you keep your independent thinking in this tsunami of tech-bro-ai gloom and doom?

I think there are roughly two kinds of designers. One type really loves design itself. They care deeply about the craft, the details, the references, what other designers think, pushing the medium, making something beautiful, elegant, original. The craft is, at least partly, the outcome. The other type mostly sees design as a tool. They care about whether the product works better. Whether users understand it. Whether conversion goes up. Whether the business grows. Whether something useful actually ships. The craft still matters, but mostly in service of moving the needle. I’ve realized I’m very much in the second camp. And I think that explains why I sometimes feel a bit out of place in very design-heavy environment. I don’t get that much satisfaction from making something impressive to other designers if it doesn’t materially improve anything. I’d much rather ship something slightly less clever that gets used, makes money, solves a real problem, or teaches us something. Neither approach is necessarily better. But they produce very different designers — and probably very different places where those designers do their best work.

Why no one expects an architect to be a builder, but they expect designers to be engineers?

i don’t want to: - work at a fast-moving startup - rush design just to ship faster - be corporate and toxic - spend my days in meetings about work instead of doing the work - work on things i would never put in my portfolio - sell my time rather than expertise - outsource my creativity to non-creative people i do want to: - work with creative open-minded people - work with people who understand why design matters - curate and spotlight genuinely good work - build for communities i care about - have enough freedom to choose what deserves my attention - help other designers {you can insert suggestions in replies} - make an impact on tech without compromising humanity

Anthropic says new Claude models will embed invisible watermarks in all generated text, everywhere Claude is offered. The watermark is part of the text, it isn't metadata: "it will travel with the text when it's copied and pasted elsewhere, and may persist through some editing." This starts with models launched on or after August 2, 2026, under an EU AI Act code Anthropic signed. Anthropic is still working on adding it to current models. The rollout is worldwide.

What if you’re not supposed to have a long-term plan? @molly_g has worked with and studied some of the most successful people in the world, and she's noticed a surprising pattern: none of them had a plan for their careers. Instead, their paths emerged. "Emergence tells us there’s a different way to build a career: not by optimizing toward a destination but by getting really clear on your principles, learning to follow your energy, and trusting that the path will reveal itself. In some ways, an emergent career is harder to manage than having a plan and staying loyal to it. There are moments of real uncertainty, and stretches where you can’t see where you’re going. But all of that uncertainty (and all of that faith) is exactly what creates room for the opportunities you couldn’t have seen coming—which, in my experience, are the ones that matter most to a career that works for you." She makes the case in today's guest post: lennysnewsletter.com/p/what-…

The Pope has weighed in: AI isn't magic. It is produced by a currently deeply exploitative, extractive supply chain. It challenges human dignity; it could fuel a new colonialism. And among the greatest challenges of our time will be to redirect its path of development.
Humanity, created by God in all its grandeur, is today facing a pivotal choice: either to construct a new Tower of Babel or to build the city in which God and humanity dwell together. In Jesus Christ, this humanity in its grandeur becomes the Way, the Truth and the Life, opening the path for each of us to grow toward fullness. #MagnificaHumanitas vatican.va/content/leo-xiv/e…

you need to be promptmaxxing. sorry, you need to stop prompting. you need to write loops. your loops need to be agentic. your agents need to be prompting your loops. you need recursive loops within your agentic workflows. you need to design while loops that constantly generate new agentic workflows from first principles. you need to migrate from human-first tokenmaxxing to agent-first loopmaxxing. you need to be a loop-pilled tokenmaxxed agentcore vibe coder. you are now in your loop era. be in your loop era. be loopy

Getting a job used to take effort. Now it takes luck. Algorithms reject you, recruiters ignore you, companies freeze hiring mid-process. People are working twice as hard just to get told “we went another direction.”

“Baby ah - we got BTO number”, she shouts from across the room. The hairs on your skin shiver. Endorphins flood your brain. Your heart palpitates as it rapidly redirects blood to your half erect cock, quickly bringing it to full mast. “What number?”, you ask cautiously, not wanting to get ahead of yourself. “132” - she replies. 132. Out of a 976 unit development. 5 year MOP. Should be able to get mid-high floor. Without morning sun. 450 - 550k purchase price. 5% due now, the remaining 20% due on key collection. Gahmen recently announced a new revitalisation programme for the area. New mall, new bicycle path, new MRT link. Easy flip for 1m+ after 5 year MOP. Finally the time has come for your ascension. You gaze upon her, eyes filled with love. She has never looked so beautiful. Sitting there in her university T-shirt, phone in hand. Her red brown balayage hair pulled away from her acne scarred face in a low ponytail. You watch her pull a funny face as she updates her Instagram and besties Telegram group with a 5 second video. Sure she’s a 5/10 by any objective measure. To anyone else, she is a mid SMU psychology student with questionable job prospects and bland hobbies (food 🍔and travel✈️❤️). But to you - she is the angel of your financial ascension. Years pass. You have since graduated and now hold down an office job at Shoppee. So too has your wife, she does 'marketing and comms' at some SME. After three years of living with your parents, it is finally time to collect the keys. You hand over the cashier's order for 100k to the HDB employee. It wasn't easy but between your savings, a loan from your ah ma and the angbao profits from your wedding (off-peak Thursday lunch reception @ Holiday Inn Orchard no open bar suckers!), you got there. As you finish signing the papers, you mentally write up your net worth by 500k. Then you add an asterisk on it. Just in case you know. Your wife has just finished her selfies with the HDB sign and pulls you into a photograph with her. You smile. A few years pass. "No lah! No lah!" - you exclaim loudly at a gathering of your secondary school friends who jest that you have 'made it already' because of your luck in securing your BTO. "Cannot sell la - still got MOP!" But deep inside you smugly muse "Yes bro - I did fucking make it". A friend who became a lawyer humble brags about how busy he is and 'offhandedly' drops his salary and how much he spends on rent. "Sucker paying other people's mortgage" you quietly muse as you sip on your mug of Tiger. As you return home you observe your wife being dropped off by her handsome ang moh colleague in an Audi. She laughs as he hands her the Chanel handbag she bought on Atome and waves her goodbyes. The wide smile on her slightly red face - a smile you haven't seen in years - fades slightly as she sees you. "We had team drinks and Thomas offered to drop me off. Very nice of him." "Yea ok cool" - you reply, unsure if you want to start another fight. Sensing the tension, she tries to change the subject. "Oh by the way ah, I spoke to my secondary school friend Celine. She in real estate now. She say ah - that our unit probably can sell 1.1 - 1.2m+ when MOP leh!" You smile - blood returning to your phallus. 2 long years pass. "Thank you Sir" - the DBS banker smiles warmly as you hand him the signed housing loan agreement. After eight arduous years, you were finally able to dump your HDB on the next sucker for over 1.1m. After agent fees etc, you got away with a clean profit of over 500k. And today marks the culmination of your ascension to the condo class. A 2 bedroom condo in the newly TOPed Merdeka Jewel - 750 square feet at $3000 per square foot at 2.25m. Sure it is a little smaller than your 990 square foot HDB but its not like you need that much room. Your wife made it abundantly clear that she does not want to have kids because she is 'too busy focusing on her career' (although you still question what the fuck her actual job is). Rolling your savings and your HDB profits into the 25% down payment and taking the 30 year loan at 2.6% interest was a no brainer. 8k a month in mortgage payments seem steep but is manageable. As long as you both keep working. I mean it will all pay off right? Singapore property is up only after all. You look to your wife and her Chanel handbag. She smiles back at you, she too celebrating her ascension to the condominium class. You can hear the gears in her head turn, the dopamine firing at the thought of all the likes her house tour video is going to get on Instagram. "Ill be out tonight with friends" - you tell her. "Ya ok I got plans also" - she replies. You text your real estate agent to confirm that you will exercise the option to purchase. Your cock is now fully erect at the thought of your ascension. Then you go on WeChat and text Lanlan "我好想你 - 今晚见!❤️" You smile and take in the Singapore sun. Damn it feels good to be a Singaporean son.
Real wealth? Multiple residencies - Singapore passport does not give this, no dual citizenship. Our passport is about as strong as silicon breast implants. Looks great from a distance but real ones know it does not hold up to touch. How many young sinkies have the balls to leave? only know one who fled to Japan. Land, soil, connection to Nature - lmfao we are a tiny island, our leaders aren’t pushing for more reclamation, our leaders also bochap. Average Moldovan peasant whose parents make wine on their land, have swine for ham and sausage, fields to lie upon in the warmer seasons is richer, if you remove the religion of GDP per capita. Children - our TFR?? Brother… Family, relationships - Sinkie pwn sinkie Happiness, inner peace - no I must be better than my colleagues n ex classmates, must flex, must prove I am better than some retard named Aloysius Wong Boon Khua Kway Chap or some shit like that Eventually you find yourself in your nice house (hopefully paid off) with a fat portfolio but your wife and kids hate you, what’s the point? Nice sports car but you’re playing within a restricted field. Your shekels will be worth an estate anywhere else in the world, on the little red dot you feel small and minuscule. You know 10 thousand hawker stalls but cannot cook a noodle dish to save your life. You can critique a steak a million ways but fear the splash of oil from the pan. For all your love of opulence you have never tasted life beyond the humid banks of the East Coast. You have means that 99% of the world will never experience, yet you lack the heart and soul to even try to experience it beyond a tiny island lying on the equator. Our ancestors that chose to leave their previous homelands for a chance of better pay for their labor had more balls than we do today. Such is the way of the kiasu sinkie. On paper you beat the world, in reality, you became a true slave to the system. Mass hypnosis. And so it goes.
