Over the past two months, we have been leading a coalition to mitigate one of the most severe bugs in open source software found in recent memory, php2shell, found as part of our Patch the Planet initiative.
GPT-Rosalind surfaced a new lead for drug discovery: could restoring cholesterol transport protect neurons from degeneration?
DCTN1 is a gene linked to Perry syndrome, a rare neurodegenerative disorder. In mouse-brain data, disrupting it increased expression of genes involved in making cholesterol. GPT-Rosalind suggested a possible explanation: cholesterol may not be reaching where neurons need it.
That gives scientists a specific mechanism to test and, if confirmed, a direction for developing new treatments for neurodegenerative disorders.
With @perturbai_tx and @scrippsresearch, a team of thousands of GPT-Rosalind agents worked in parallel, connecting gene-expression results from millions of mouse brain cells with scientific literature in just 32 minutes. We’re now expanding this collaboration to identify new drug targets.

Hearing from the rumor mill: a frontier lab is preparing to release a new model that is better than their old model. In response, other frontier labs are reportedly releasing new models that are better than their old models. One of these will be the best. It may be a surprise.

OpenAI COOKED (Episode 1)!
Pleasure to be on the first ep of Cooked with @ForwardEditor @danizeres and @axbehr
I can't believe they made me wait under the table for 4 hours...
Here’s what we’re cooking with Codex:

What is ChatGPT Space, that is the question. Endearingly awkward at times because it's the actual team working on it. What would you like to see next?

My dot sent 60 messages to movers over several days, filled out quote forms, and handled the back-and-forth.
I gave it my dates, what I needed moved, and permission to handle the conversations.
Wrote up how it went, and how to give yours a job like this.

Codex is one of the most important untold stories in the history of technology.
A year ago, it was a scrappy effort in a quiet corner of @OpenAI. Its cloud product hadn’t found PMF, and the team was starting over from scratch.
Less than 12 months later:
- Codex swallowed the flagship ChatGPT desktop app from the inside (it literally runs as com.openai.codex on your Mac)
- Codex and ChatGPT for Work hit 40M+ weekly users across engineering and knowledge work
- Its leader @thsottiaux was elevated to run all of OpenAI’s core products, including ChatGPT, Codex, and the API
How did they pull it off?
They trained their own dedicated model line, separate from ChatGPT, with researchers and product builders sitting on the same team
They built four different products in a single year (cloud → terminal → IDE sidebar → a desktop app with no code editor at all) as every model leap made a new form factor possible
They used Codex to build Codex—so a handful of people could prove a new product in weeks instead of arguing for it in meetings
I had a front-row seat to the whole arc—from their failed Cloud launch, to OpenAI’s offices the night before GPT-5 dropped, to the day Codex took over ChatGPT.
And I spent months interviewing @gdb, @thsottiaux, @embirico, @mia_glaese, @aambrosino, and @edbayes to get inside how it all went down.
Here is the full, behind-closed-doors story of the team that remade OpenAI:

This piece is completely agent-native—designed to be read alongside your agent inside ChatGPT’s in-app browser:
- Every interview transcript is included in full: Click any quote and you (or your agent) can see the exact conversation it came from.
- Built for your agent to explore: Ask your agent to pull out product lessons for your team, cross-examine the transcripts, or find insights I missed when writing the piece.

Amid the worrying news on AI safety, this story is a reminder that safer is possible. OpenAI recognized the mental-health danger posed by its sycophantic model. It appears to have done a fantastic job in addressing the issue.

I think I seriously underestimated how useful the new interactive UI is. It’s actually pretty damn cool.

His Dot caught a mistake before he did.
My dot has already caught scheduling conflicts, missing meeting information, and important billing notices for me.
As we move more into high-agency proactive AI, business leaders need to make sure their teams are not solely relying on AI to catch conflicts or errors. Honestly, I can already see myself falling into the trap a bit.
