Advocates believe that the U.S., Israel, U.K. & Germany are pushing for @KarimKhanQC because he may shut down the ICC investigations into U.S. war crimes in Afghanistan and Israeli war crimes in Palestine. We need to know where this candidate stands on at least these two issues.

“Perhaps my best story that never made the papers was the day I came out of the David Kelly inquiry and rang my news editor to say the ambulance crew had questioned the slash marks on his wrist being the wrong way round, only to be told, ‘No, that’s not the line we’re going on.’”

Oh Lordy. @EssexPR, you really are a dumbass. Tommy Robinson is a pseudonym. It is not his legal given name. That is Stephen Yaxley-Lennon. In 1982, David Paulden legally changed his name by deed poll to Zack Polanski. If you are still struggling to understand that, I could write it in Crayon for you.

And this predictably proves to be yet another clusterfuck by the EU: they announce to much fanfare last month that Canada is to become the EU's first "associate member," only to come back weeks later and say "upon reflection, we didn't really think this one through, offer rescinded, our bad"
What happened is that the ever-horrendous Von Der Leyen literally improvised the offer into her speech - it wasn't in her prepared remarks (npr.org/2026/09/16/nx-s1-597…) - without consulting member states before, several of which were understandably furious, all the more because the term has no legal meaning.
Hard to overstate the sheer level of amateurism: we're used to the EU commission not giving a damn about what European citizens think - that's standard - but skipping the 27 governments is a whole new level.
And this is all the more absurd that Von Der Leyen, as per European treaties, has zero business doing foreign policy in the first place.
Long story short, the end result, which could be the slogan for the EU as a whole these days, is that nobody's happy and the EU ridiculed itself on the world stage.
🚨 BREAKING: EU countries have dropped the idea of offering Canada "associate member" status in the 27-member bloc, opting instead for softer language promising "ever closer association," according to a draft statement, seen by POLITICO.

For a Labour Chancellor to declare during a Scrooge Budget in which a painful year is promised to his own people that he had “made the day” of a foreign leader by handing him an EXTRA £10 Billion desperately needed at home is such a cognitive dissonance as to be scarcely believable. That NOBODY in the House protested renders it a rubber-stamp assembly of a kind simply unrecognisable to a long-standing parliamentarian like me.

We've waited patiently for a plan to end neoliberalism. We won't wait anymore.
We need rent controls
We need a wealth tax
We need *serious* cuts to energy bills
Instead it's a few pence off gherkins & a payout which the experts say won't touch the sides on energy bills.

🚨BREAKING: All Britons may need ID to use social media, the UK's online safety regulator today announces
“This plan for a government ‘social media ban’ is a national ID system by the back door.
Both the government and Ofcom have admitted that children will get around the ban, which means the real effect will be normalising adults and children alike to hand over their passports just to get online.
Hundreds of thousands of people without ID, who tend to be poorer people, and many more who don’t want to risk handing their passports over to foreign tech companies will be locked out of huge parts of the internet.
The plan will kill anonymity online, whilst the UK’s culture of speech policing is reaching a crisis point. The policy is painfully misguided, an Orwellian assault on free speech and privacy, and will make children no safer at all.
The false illusion that children aren’t on social media will cause the companies to abandon all their child safety measures. The Government could be promoting meaningful safety measures and supporting parental controls that genuinely protect children - instead, they’re demanding government ID from the whole population just for uncensored internet access. It is authoritarian madness.”

One of the most disgraceful chain of events in Jeremy’s long battle. Non disclosure of evidence and then the CCRC wouldn’t pay to have the photographs developed.
The Guardian 👇👇👇
A bundle of crime-scene photos was disclosed to Bamber’s defence before the 1986 trial. Fifteen years later, in 2001, a second bundle was disclosed to his new team, to prepare for his appeal. Finally, in 2011, following decades of legal battles and multiple court orders regarding non-disclosed evidence, Essex police handed over 406 crime scene negatives to the Criminal Cases Review Commission (CCRC), the body tasked with investigating potential miscarriages of justice. When the CCRC refused to pay to have the negatives developed into hi-res photographs, Bamber’s supporters paid £2,295 to have them developed.

NEW: On Friday, dockworkers at 111 ports in 22 countries and regions on five continents will stop work in a coordinated strike against war, according to the most recent information from the organizing unions.
More than 25 dockworkers’ unions have now signed on, from Marseille to Mumbai, Hamburg to Montevideo, Melbourne to Oakland. Days ago the count stood at about 100 ports in 17 countries, and that figure doesn’t include the dozens of unions in other sectors that have pledged support. Their demand is simple: no weapons and no military cargo through their ports. Nearly everything the world ships passes through the docks, and without the workers who load and unload it, nothing moves.
In France, the main dockers’ union says the country’s ports will be 95% shut. Italy, India, Greece and Turkey face 24-hour strikes, and Morocco and Cyprus will see stoppages of up to two hours, with rallies planned in port cities around the world. In Greece, metalworkers, ship-repair workers and young people are joining the dockers, and in the US, ILWU Local 10 is striking in Oakland and San Francisco. The unions are working from the Istanbul Declaration, signed in May, with each one deciding for itself how to take part. They are also fighting for their own jobs, against cuts from automation and for contracts, raises, shorter hours and safety.
The unions point to escalating wars in Ukraine and the Middle East and the danger of a generalized war. They condemn Israel’s new crimes in Hebron, carried out with the backing of the US, NATO and the EU. Israel’s lockdown of the city is now in its sixth day, with more than 3,000 Palestinians displaced, according to the UN. Palestinian unions have endorsed Friday’s action.
In Italy, the fight has spilled beyond the docks. The union USB has called for a nationwide general strike. Last night, the Italian government ordered transport workers back on the job last night. USB said it would defy the order and accept the steep penalties.
The unions are calling on workers and young people everywhere to stand with the dockworkers, saying “Ports for peace and the peoples, not launching pads for war.”
I’m reporting from Calabria, Italy, and I will be in Genoa tomorrow ahead of the strike to report on the ground during the mobilzation.

Wonder if any of the money Tommy Robinson conned out of his supporters over the years found its way into this company's coffers?
Tommy Robinson’s ex-wife, Jenna Lennon, is scheduled to be sentenced on 26 November after pleading guilty to charges of concealing company financial records.
There is a shortfall of more than £1 million in her company, Hope & Pride Ltd, and she also owes HMRC £319,000 in unpaid corporation tax.
Tommy Robinson himself is due to be sentenced on 16 December.
Depending on their sentences, their children could potentially be without either parent this Christmas.

Even in Norway, a good friend tells me, demonstrate for peace and you're condemned as a Putinist and recieve attention from the security services. At the bottom of all this anxiety, paranoia and warmongering is the unavoidable fact that the West is heading for an almighty financial crash. The East is rising, multipolarity is the future and the 4400 year old debt-servicing system the West calls an 'economy', which has created incredible wealth for the creditor class and their middle-class techies and administrators, has reached its endgame. No longer will the rest of the world allow themselves to be bullied into handing over ridiculously cheap land, labour and resources while servicing suffocating debts. It's over. The creditor class and their political-military puppets can't negotiate because they never had to and never learned - they have to go.
