It's remarkably short-sighted for websites to block AI agents.
Agents WILL become the way most people transact online - block them and you'll lose a ton of customers.
And I suspect LLMs will get better at browser use faster than humans will improve at detecting them...
notice..
> Delta is blocking AI agents from booking flights
> JPMorgan Chase and Charles Schwab block agents from accessing accounts
> Yelp requires paid data licensing for agents
> Amazon has blocked Grok bot and other shopping agents.
the internet is starting to block AI agents that were supposed to do everything for us

Dumb question. Why are Real Estate agents needed anymore?
Everything they do is completely replaceable by AI and Zillow or Redfin.

A perpetual problem: the more visible activity there is, the more impressive the work looks. Ten years ago people were building unnecessary distributed systems, with >1:1 microservice:dev ratio, that could've been simple monoliths. The same thing is happening with "factories".

As a neurodivergent, my biggest mistake was assuming everyone wants to know the truth.

Men over 30 have developed Peter Pan syndrome at a higher number than ever before. My friends and I have noticed a similar pattern.
They’ll find a girl who presents as the ideal woman: she’s wifey. She’s beautiful, sweet, intelligent, a good cook. She cares for him when he’s sick. She encourages him to be the best version of himself.
He’ll tell her this is what he wants, she’s what he wants. She checks off all the boxes.
But something is missing, he pulls away. And when he does, she will go against her feminine and chase him. Because good ones are so hard to find these days.
He will lead her on, make her think it’s going somewhere. And eventually chicken out. A few days later, she’ll send a paragraph.
The biggest crisis in America is not the declining birth rate, but the part that comes before it. Men are unwilling and unable to commit to good women.
The American dream is inconceivable without the American family. And the American family is impossible without a strong partnership.

We should be stealing a lot more from data engineering when we build AI systems.
DAGs - does this really need to be one giant agent loop?
Lineage - which sources, artifacts, prompts, and model versions produced this?
Change detection - if a source changes, which generated artifacts are now outdated?
Incremental processing - what can we keep instead of rerunning the whole agent?
ETL - what context do we pull in, what does the model do with it, and where do we save the result?
Data engineers have been solving these problems for decades.

Ageism in tech is a real issue. There just are no companies willing to take a chance on a 52 year old engineer with literally decades of experience. Hard to understand, if you ask me.
New biz model:
Rent out hot plates to hotel travelers
I'm not paid by the hotel lobby or something btw
I was a big fan of Airbnb and would prefer to stay in Airbnbs if they were great
I want to have a kitchen to cook steak and vegetables, and not go outside to eat in restaurants or get shitty hotel food
But I can't book Airbnbs because I the "rating anxiety" is so high because I can't trust the ratings and I end up with my bags in some place that sucks, so the variation of quality is too high to be able to seriously use for travel (except maybe in Asia)
So they leave us no choice to just go back to hotels
Meanwhile hotels still don't have kitchens! What a missed opportunity! Hotel industry could CLEAN UP entire Airbnb by just adding kitchens to rooms

I am gonna say something risky:
Most of the FDEs I've seen are solving BS problems.
1. Existing enterprise workflows were designed around people, not agents.
2. Real AI gains require rebuilding the org chart.
3. Most execs have no incentive to do that, and most CEOs aren't in founder mode.
4. So FDEs automate the status quo, because that's what's easy to sell. But the status quo is stupid and will be obsolete.
5. If you FDE on critical workflows, 1) enterprises are really this dumb to hand off trade secrets? 2) if you know that, shouldn't you start a competing firm?
If you FDE on non-essential AND soon-obselete workflows, did you learn anything meaningful and repeatable?
6. If you are a smart young FDE, why spend your best years automating dying workflows and managing people who fear AI will take their jobs? Shouldn't you start an agent-native firm from scratch in that industry instead?
Analogy would be, instead of teaching everyone to be AI builders within a tech company, you as FDE build agents that auto-ingest meeting notes for PM, QA, front-end, back-end, devops, UX and help each of them write PRD, Figma, and meeting notes faster for their sync meeting, but the right solution should be to shrink roles, hire full-stack AI builders, and kill meetings. You gain lots of experience with your PRD/Figma/standup meeting sync agents but it's a useless skill.
I am not a FDE expert so I might oversimplify things. I am genuinely curious about this topic and welcome any critiques and comments.

Looking back, it is so interesting that we all rushed in 2023-24 to learn LangChain and many other frameworks. And now, almost all major coding harnesses and agents are just hand-rolled loops.
Turns out, the abstraction was the overhead.

hard truth: most agent skills are not helping you, some are actively making things worse.
we as engineers like control, to feel important. admitting the model doesn't need us is uncomfortable. but if you're using a frontier harness + model, you only need good prompting

- Full stack: frontend, backend, DevOps, QA, and IT support for the CEO's printer
- On-call 24/7 but we value work-life balance

Jev will probably go down in history as the most thoroughly spanked startup ever — a brutal reminder of how few ways are are to create a competitive moat in software these days.
(Hint: if you don’t have proprietary data that clearly distinguishes your offering then watch out.)
1. Launch a service that popularises a novel and valuable way to use LLMs
2. Watch literally everyone clone it almost instantly, in many cases beating it
Cloudflare's Clef beat Jev in just two weeks
How: "frozen" Qwen does one prefill pass, a tiny schema head scores every answer option in parallel, with no text generated at all.
That's why it's 4x faster than Jev at 2x the accuracy on some benchmarks.
And it's open source!
