What a night...
It's been more than 20 years since I've seen some of these guys who I served with in #Iraq. Tonight we came together and celebrated the #USMC Birthday, but most importantly each other.
Our journey together was crazy and extremely unique. The burden we carried was real. Seeing them, spending time with them and talking has my brain completely overstimulated... but it was an incredible evening.
Our story has been documented in a book @NoTougherDuty:

...and has even been discussed on the @jockowillink podcast:

Incredible group of Marines... and it was an honor to serve with them.

Sad to say @profgalloway is an investor in Boom. I don't mind disagreements but calling for an execution of a non-criminal (worse, an actual hero!) is a step too far.
Working to arrange a buy-out of his shares.
.@profgalloway of @ProfGMarkets, @PivotPod, @voxdotcom and @NYMag is doubling down: he wants Elon executed.
There is no justification for calling for murder in civil society.
You support this @Bankoff?

Please approve #DCVAX next so patients aren’t forced to fly overseas to receive a treatment (for GBM and all solid tumor cancers) created here in the US braintumourresearch.org/blog…
This is a sorely short sighted position to take...
AI isn't just about writing code faster, increasing productivity or padding the bottom line of technology companies. We're talking about a technology with the potential to fundamentally change human health and scientific discovery.
You're already benefiting from improved cancer detections/screening, faster medical research, drug candidate selection and increased efficiency in clinical trials.
Think deeply about what you're saying to families with rare genetic diseases or (currently) incurable cancers waiting in desperation for breakthrough treatments.
Slowing down AI development isn't a decision that should be made flippantly or for padding a political scorecard. It's a decision that has real consequences. You're delaying discoveries that will delay treatments... which will cost human lives.
We need responsible AI development and datacenter rollouts... but making a sweeping call to pause progress is ignoring the real human cost.

Writing this in my personal capacity, but I have been flying these types of aircraft for more than 20 years, with over 8,000 hours, and have reasonable familiarity with how the charter world operates. I feel compelled to post after seeing commentary about the Lear 60 crash, from missile strikes to DEI to critiquing this poor woman’s final radio calls.
That last part is what I find most troubling. She was the second-in-command (SIC), and while she was empowered to point out mistakes as part of good crew resource management, she was doing her job, communicating with ATC right to the end in a terrifying situation. She likely knew before many of those calls that she was going to die. I have heard final calls from friends, from military pilots with thousands of hours in fighter aircraft, and they are just as heartbreaking because they know the end is approaching.
I understand the public interest given the footage and audio. But you do not know the aircraft’s maintenance history, whether there was a structural failure, if any failure was induced by turbulence, overspeed, or overcontrol, or everything happening in that cockpit. I am sure weather will be part of the investigation, but beyond that, it is speculation. The charter industry routinely hires commercial pilots very early in their careers to gain experience alongside an ATP-qualified captain before they move up to the airlines. She would still have the appropriate training, qualifications, and checkouts by an FAA examiner or designee.
Let people investigate, learn, and share the facts. Be respectful to those who perished and the families who carry their memories. God bless them and their loved ones.

I had a hard enough time being a decent pilot and a half decent parent.
Here on @X we have people who themselves are expert pilots, international diplomacy experts, political campaign experts, policy experts, financial experts, fitness experts, peptide experts, and parenting experts all at the same time.
Thank goodness you guys are experts at everything. No idea where we would be without you.
This is incredibly sad…
🚨BREAKING UPDATE: Texas tech entrepreneur Adam Robinson, his wife, their two young children, and several others have been identified in reports as victims of Sunday’s devastating Learjet 60 crash in Palm Beach County, Florida.🚨
Robinson, 44, was an Austin-based entrepreneur and the founder and CEO of several successful technology companies, including Retention .com, RB2B, and MoltSets. He was reportedly traveling with his wife, Helen Sharp, 40, their two young children, the family’s nanny, and two close friends when the aircraft went down. All nine people aboard were killed.
Robinson grew up near Houston, graduated from Rice University, and spent approximately a decade working on Wall Street, including at Lehman Brothers and Barclays Capital, before transitioning into entrepreneurship.
He went on to build multiple successful companies, including Retention .com, a marketing technology company reportedly generating more than $20 million in annual recurring revenue. He was known for building highly profitable businesses with small teams and without relying heavily on outside investors.
His wife, Helen, was also an entrepreneur and ceramic artist who operated Helen Sharp Ceramics.
The family was traveling aboard the 2004 Learjet 60,
bound for North Eleuthera in the Bahamas.
During the flight, the crew reported icing, turbulence, and precipitation before requesting clearance to climb to a higher altitude. Shortly afterward, the aircraft began descending at an alarming rate, with the crew reporting a descent of approximately 20,000 feet per minute.
The two pilots have also been identified in reports as Captain Jeff Gregory, 55, and co-pilot Nathalia Gadelha Filgueiras, just 20 years old.
Please keep their families and friends in your prayers.

Pretty much.
As of the past few weeks, debt markets have almost entirely shut off access to money for any company that doesn’t have substantial revenue independent of AI data centers.
SpaceX closed $40B of debt for GPUs, but we’re investment grade and have Starlink & launch revenue.
That means the 200+ neoclouds are going to see guppy-level death and consolidation. Some will make it through, but not many.

buddy came over for lunch Worried about having physical gold vs silver with all this AI hacking being predicted. My response was that this is just Y2K all over. Lots of ‘super smart’ people predicting doom but as with Y2K the actual impact will be precisely zero on a grand scale. Unless you tell Claude it is dumb or lazy of course then all bets for your future and family are off of course😳, good luck.
Effective Immediately, all organizations using PHP for their systems are advised to be prepared for an update addressing two critical vulnerabilities. PHP is widely used for web applications. These vulnerabilities often provide a direct path to the server's file system or database. If an immediate update is not feasible, it is recommend that organizations take the system offline until it can be fully mitigated. NSA will follow up shortly with more specific guidance.
