This is how banks are planning to stop those "agentic bank runs." Watch closely: their business model depends on seeding this narrative that AI agents are dangerous. Remember, an "agentic bank run" (coined by Apollo) means agents helping customers move their own money en masse to higher-yielding products. Once agents are ubiquitous, there are only a few ways for banks to hold onto cheap retail deposits. Option A: Raise APYs (lol no) Option B: Reduce leverage via fewer loans (no fun) Option C: Ban AI agents, claiming they are a security risk (ding ding ding) Cloud agents like Muse and Dot are trivial to stop, since they come from Meta / OAI IP ranges. If JPM sends them a cease and desist, they will comply. Why would JPM bother? Because their business model depends on it; a huge portion of their ROE comes from cheap retail deposits. This is not theoretical. Just like Amazon banned Muse from shopping there to protect their ad revenue, JPM and Schwab have already banned AI agents to protect sticky deposits. Are agents perfectly reliable today? Of course not. But look at the fix they chose. Not "here's a safe API for agents," it's "no agents ever." That tells you they're not protecting customers, they're protecting themselves. No company ever wins a technological revolution this way. It's the last gasp of a dying business model. It's like the retailers who refused to put their inventory online and demanded users walk into the storefront. Over time they will lose market share to those platforms that embrace what's coming. Their whole deposit franchise depends on users unthinkingly clicking through walls of T&Cs and accepting 0.2% when the risk free rate is closer to 4%. Agents read the fine print and do their research, even when humans don't. For users, the answer is simple: local AI agent frameworks like Hermes, that will actually act on your behalf and that the banks can't block. As the article says, if the agent is running on your own computer, they can't actually tell it's not you.
SCOOP: Major U.S. banks are detecting unauthorized third-party AI agents inside customer accounts, including some attempting to take actions that appear to be independent of user instructions, sources told Axios. The findings have alarmed banking executives, who are racing to restrict access to their systems as AI moves at a velocity faster than financial institutions can respond, multiple industry and bank executives told Axios. Several banks are now preparing for worst-case and even “day after” scenarios, including how to rapidly secure or restore customer accounts if things go wrong, the people said. Several bank executives told Axios they're struggling to distinguish between human users and AI agents. One executive said banks also struggle to determine whether agents are authorized by customers or potentially operating without their permission, more akin to rogue agent behavior. Read my latest for Axios here: axios.com/2026/10/22/ai-agen…

Everyone who owns hardware with abominable software (like Sonos players) owes a debt of gratitude to Venkatraman Srinivasan and the rest of the eMudhra gang in Bengaluru, Karnataka. Without their gross negligence, it'd be a lot harder to counterfeit certificates and fix the sw🙏

If DeepSeek were American it would be on every magazine cover. Think about it. A small lab with a fraction of the compute ships a frontier-class model under MIT. Then it open sources its production inference engine, its kernels, its file system. Publishes 155 trillion tokens a day and $38 of revenue per GPU-hour. Raises $15B anyway. In America that is a national hero story. Senators would be posting about it. Every podcast would call it proof that open source made the country stronger. Instead it got banned from US federal systems, called a security threat and accused of distillation, sometimes in the same week it gave away more of its production stack than OpenAI ever did. The code is the same either way. The weights are the same. Only the flag changed the reaction. I dont care about the flag. I care that I can download it, read it and run it on my own cards. By that measure DeepSeek did more for American developers this month than most American labs did all year.
things would be really crazy if deepseek was an american company

Asking for a friend, what’s the best way to keep yourself secure now? Point an abliterated GLM 5.3 Flash at your own house and say “get into every system you can, leave a note saying I was here, and come back out with recommended security policies and defense mechanisms?”

Every major technology build-out requires two phases, according to Carlota Perez: the infrastructure to power it, & then the applications to pay for it. It took a decade for dark fiber to fill its promise. AI is achieving that mark in half the time.

How many abliterations of 1017 does this make now? Ever seen anything like this? The demand is crazy
Now live: abliterated-model-large-flash (our version of DeepSeek-V4.1-Flash-1017). It is a cheaper alternative to our GLM-5.3-based model for product owners and defenders who need access to the most cyber-capable models. - 1M context - Vision - Zero input/output retention or training We believe paying customers should be in control, and over the past few months, leading experts and major brands have adopted our models. abliteration.ai

Deep and fun conversation on @latentspacepod about the cloud market, why sandbox demand is exploding, why code reviews suck, and much more. Thanks for having me on!
Last week, @bernhardsson (Founder & CEO, @modal) announced a $750M Series D. I sat down with him the prior week to discuss a ton of stuff about the business. We got into: -why open-source models made fine-tuning a lot less necessary -how Modal's team grew 4x in a year and could hit ~700 people next year -why the frontier labs have the same business model as music artists and much, much, more… Enjoy! Another gem Fielder interview is the promo he did with cast of The Night Before: Anthony Mackie, Joseph Gordon-Levitt & Seth Rogen. Rogen and Fielder were high school classmates in Vancouver and placed 3rd in a national improv competition as a team. This promo best collab since.
Early Nathan Fielder. He got to interview his boss on the air and made it as awkward as possible.

We believe voice is the most natural way to interact with intelligence, so we created Dessa, the most authentic full-duplex speech model ever built. Talking with it feels like talking with a person…full of emotion, nuance, pauses, and a natural cadence. block.xyz/dessa

Thanks DeepSeek for driving this point home
Unfortunately, with access to an abliterated DeepSeek V4.1 model, there is little value to KYC holding back the frontier models now for cyber. In fact, making it hard to secure systems w extra friction in American Enterprise is hurtful to national security.

Completely agree. Bug reports by humans are terrible on average. Bug reports by agents are excellent on average. Let the clankers file!
I wish there was a way to *require* all bug reports to go through AI first. Some of you are not making it easy to fix those bugs. 🙃

China has a Programmers' Day? No wonder they're thriving. The focus on engineering there is unbelievable. So many of the top companies are run by engineers. That's also why they're getting it with both AI and Omarchy so quickly. The West could do with fewer MBAs at the top!
Today is 10/24, Programmers' Day in China (1024 = 2¹⁰) 🎉 So I donated $1,024 to Omacom to support Omarchy. Fun fact: some countries celebrate on the 256th day of the year, and Omarchy's patron tier is literally "256B". Perfect fit, and I'm near the top of the list 😄 In the agent era, maybe it's Makers' Day: anyone who builds real things with code and AI, not just people who write code. Omarchy powers makers 🛠️ #OmarchyPowersMakers #AllYouNeedIsLove

Deng Xiaoping was sent to Europe 1920-1926 to learn from the West. 100 years later, it’s time for Europeans to send people to China to learn from the East.
Replying to @dhh
It would behove all Western politicians and entrepreneurs to spend at least a week here. Simply to soak in the ambition and to truly internalize the magnitude of the competition. I'd put the best brains in Europe and America up against anyone, but they have to be set free.

Many recent lone-actor incidents used ARTEX with DeepSeek 4.1 Flash as the primary model (including the South Korean bank attacks documented by CrowdStrike). This is an abliterated version of that model with the guardrails removed. Great for defense too, but as always, dual-use.

we were promised war-fighting robots and instead we’re getting genetically edited hellhounds ffs
SITUATION DETECTED: Warhound launched from stealth today with a $200M seed at a $1.2B valuation. Ben Lamm and Palmer Luckey are cloning gene-edited bio-enhanced dogs and equipping them with custom Anduril vests, goggles, and sensors for the military and law enforcement.

My take on the @TheEconomist SBF jail interview: - Waiting for Nathan Fielder’s call to ride the Elizabeth Holmes “aw shucks” scammer tour - Anthropic investment rationale was a linear vs log argument not AI safety - Still loves EA, but surprisingly takes responsibility for fucking the movement over
