Diahann Carroll and Sidney Poitier had a nine-year affair that began in 1959. At one point, the two agreed that they would leave their spouses and build a life together. Carroll followed through, leaving her husband in 1963, but Poitier ultimately changed his mind. He even changed the locks on the 10-room apartment he had rented for her on Riverside Drive.
Despite the painful end to their relationship, the two eventually reconciled decades later and remained close until Poitier's death in 2022.

For patriarchy to remain effective, it has to be taught, institutionalised and enforced.
It has to be embedded in cultures, religions, traditions, laws, social structures, everything.

If patriarchy were human nature, then it would not require so much conditioning, enforcement and even punishment to sustain it.

THIS IS INSANE. He drugged her so that he could shove abortion pills into her mouth and vagina. He made an online pharmacy account in her name so he could secretly have the pills shipped to West Point. She also wanted to keep the baby. He even threatened that he would kill himself if she didn't get an abortion. She refused because she wanted to be a mother, so he drugged her to terminate the pregnancy. He left her there, and when she awoke, she called 911. She said she was in and out of consciousness during the attack, and every time she tried to spit the pills out, he would shove them back into her mouth.
He then went on to study at CORNELL and graduated with his BA in emergency medicine (ironic) in 2024. Yes, he was enrolled the same year the gang rape happened at the fraternity. He then enrolled at Columbia, where he is STILL enrolled. But it gets crazier because he asked if the judge could delay his sentencing so he could finish his semester at Columbia, and the judge granted the request. This piece of shit is allowed to complete his education after assaulting a woman. Meanwhile, there is no update on whether she even finished her schooling after the assault because of the mental and physical trauma she experienced.
This is ANOTHER case of a university being aware of a student sexually assaulting someone and still allowing them to finish their schooling. @Columbia should have expelled him immediately. Why are these schools protecting disgusting men?

My teenage daughter was asked by her doctor when she last had her period.
She replied, โItโs regular. You donโt need the exact dates.โ
When I asked her why she answered that way, she explained that doctors can no longer be trusted with certain personal information and should get used to patients keeping things to themselves.
Imagine raising a generation of girls who feel they have to withhold basic medical information because they no longer trust the system to protect them.
