According to a passenger, check-in was closed by KLM at Kotoka International Airport 2 hours before departure, even though the airline’s website states that check-in opens 3 hours before departure and closes 60 minutes before departure. As a result, the passenger reportedly had to purchase a new ticket. "You are telling me that you close 2 hours before, but it says on your Web page, black on white, that you close 60 minutes before departure". [📹 Anna-Lisa Tiktok]

Let me debunk your lies:- MEDICS STRIKE ALL Union leaders and Doctors leading the strike OWN private clinics and hospitals- LIES. 1. Dr @MiskellahMD's salary was stopped by Embu County. Reason? He was pursuing his masters in Obs/Gynae. He's currently a qualified obs/gyne 2. Dr @Davji dedicates his time entirely to Union matters even though he's a specialist- Clinical Pharmacologist 3. Dr @NabwireDr commits her time as the treasurer of KMPDU to serve the members. She too is a specialist in pharmacology 4. Dr. @abimwachi is a surgeon who dedicates his time to serving the public. 5. Dr @DrMundia , a Dental maxillofacial specialist, tech expert, and lawyer is also dedicated to serving Union members. Unlike you, we know each other, and the above doctors are not just entry doctors, they're specialists who have dedicated their blood, sweat, and tears to agitate for public healthcare.. Enda hukoo na mauongo zako!!!!! #DoctorsStrikeKE #paymedicalinterns #ImplementCBA2017
° MEDICS STRIKE ALL Union leaders and Doctors leading the strike OWN private clinics and hospitals. Daily Routine - After a few hours of public nuisance and disruption, they go back to their private clinics. It is absurd and un-Hypocrates  for them to disrupt public healthcare. Do NOT spoil for the great majority of young Doctors who barely got a true taste of many years of rigorous studies. In any case, there is a large pool of unemployed medics and specialists out there who are willing to step in under basic terms and conditions.  Resume work and peacefully negotiate. @LuluHassan @citizentvkenya @ntvkenya @KTNNewsKE @kmpdu @MOH_Kenya @KenyaGovernors

The following leaders have been very vocal asking healthcare workers to accept the new terms- reduction of their salaries ~ 33%. I am throwing a challenge to them to accept a pay-cut so that the money can be rechanelled to essential services like Health, Education and Agriculture. @NdindiNyoro your salary as an MP is 710,000. This does not include benefits such as a car grant, mileage allowance, and sitting allowance that stands at Ksh.5,000 for every day you attend parliament. If you take a 33% cut, you save the country ~2.8 Million annually. This is an annual salary for a DOCTOR in Murang’a County. The doctor will have a coverage of at least 16,000 patients. @HonMoses_Kuria your salary is 924,000. If you take the proposed 33% cut, you will save the county ~3.7 Million annually. That’s remuneration for a DOCTOR and a NURSE for a whole year in Kiambu County. You will still have ~619,000 and your incentives are intact. For this one doctor, 16,000 patients from Kiambu County will be served. The Nurse will serve every 1,000 patients in Kiambu. @BarasaFernandes your salary is 990,000 less incentives. If you take the proposed 33% cut, you will save the county ~4 Million annually. That’s remuneration for a DOCTOR and a NURSE for a whole year in Kakamega County. The doctor will serve every 16,000 patients from Kakamega County. The Nurse will serve every 1,000 patients in Kakamega County. @koske_felix your salary is Ksh957,000 less incentives, If you take the proposed 33%, you will save the county ~3.8 Million annually. That’s remuneration for 3 CLINICAL OFFICERS and 2 LAB Technician for a whole year in Nandi County. @Nakhumicha_S your salary is Ksh924,000 less incentives, If you take the proposed 33%, you will save the county ~3.7 Million annually. That’s remuneration for a DOCTOR and a LAB TECHNICIAN for a whole year in TransZoia County. You will still have ~619,000. For this one doctor, 16,000 patients from TransZoia will be treated. It cost Kenya 780,000 to pay CAS who are an unconstitutional office! Why? ~10 million Annually. This amount can comfortably employ 3 DOCTORS and 2 NURSES annually. Governors alone cost the country KES 558,360,000 annually. We have not added their guzzlers, allowances etc. Compare the above ridiculous Salaries to that of an entry doctor at 206,000. If the President @WilliamsRuto is serious about budget cuts, starts from the bloated wages above. Also offer healthcare workers a dignified Medical Cover. They offer services they cannot afford. #DoctorsStrikeKE #DoctorsDeserveBetter #PayMedicalInterns #ImplementCBA2017

Doctors don't even have to strike on the streets if they are worried about their safety. They can also stay home and do a silent protest. The hospitals will still not have doctors. The government will still not win.
Kenya Police has issued a statement calling medics on strike a "public nuisance" and saying they will deal with demonstrations "firmly and decisively."

And in response, doctors should refuse to treat any police officers now and in the future. Let them go to State House for firm and decisive prayers 🙏🏾🤲🏾

No one; no doctor, no nurse, no teacher, no engineer, no lawyer, no intern, registrar or clerk- should have their remuneration, salary, allowance or stipend reviewed downwards. Pay the ‘interns’ what the government signed with them in the CBA! And while at it stop being arrogant to them.

Thought of the day: Common sense dictates that any government in the world is too powerful to sign an agreement under “duress” from a workers’ union. But this is Kenya, the land where politics of betrayal and deceit is the norm.

This is me walking alone in KNH Corridors at 3:15am on 6th August 2023. I have about 500 of such photos of corridor photos just show how crazy the hours are… I call them corridors chronicles and put them on my WhatsApp status for fun #DrStrikeKE
Jamila: From what the President said about not having money to pay the doctors may make people start asking questions about what exactly is the government spending money on? I think we need to start taking the doctors more seriously than we are, these people work crazy hours #NewsGang

Pay your resident Kenyan oncologist 250k. When he goes on strike for his salary being cut to 150, you hire a foreigner and pay him 540k a month. Explain this to me. It is easier to pay a foreigner the correct figure for his skills and knowledge and expertise, but not the same for a fellow Kenyan. #DoctorsStrikeKE

Why do we hate ourselves as Kenyans? @kutrrh has been underpaying drs and engaging them on 1 month contracts. That is why we went on strike against them. They then hire some quacks from Ethiopia and TZ and suddenly have money to pay Salary- 540k ,Airfare for self + family to Kenya, work permit - 400k ,KMPDC registration fees,Free accomodation ,Free food,Return airfare home annually. The @MOH_Kenya did the same with Cubans who were each earning almost 1 million with free housing, transport, food and registration and medical cover!(No SRC is needed here). So they know how much worth a doctors should earn but due to self hate, they tell you 200k is too much!! @OliveMugenda should be called out and soon as @kmpdu we shall be writing to @EACCKenya to report how she has broken the Mwongozo code and how some of their top leadership have FAKE PAPERS!! #DoctorsStrikeKE #LipaKamaUmbrella @KmpdcOfficial @koske_felix @PSCKenya

Debunking the medical officer intern salary: The comparisons among professions is null and void, teachers, doctors, lawyers, pilots, engineers, architects, journalists, bankers, economists among many others work across different sectors with different salaries. Each profession has unique job requirements & duties and contributes to the economy differently. Historically, medical internship was the entry point into public service for doctors. In public service, all graduates begin with a basic slaary salary ranging from kshs. 35,910 - 45,880. The following allowances are applicable to all graduates in public service not only Medical officer Interns/Junior doctors: House allowance - Kshs. 12,000 - kshs. 28,000 {depending on the town one works in}. Commuter allowance - Kshs. 6,000 Unique allowances to the Medical Profession due to the nature of the job include: ⁃Emergency Call Allowance ⁃Health Worker Extraneous Allowance ⁃Health Worker Risk Allowance ⁃Non- Practice allowance {Introduced in 2001/2002 to improve the pay package of the doctor. The medical officer intern is the junior most doctor, the nature of the job of the graduate doctors requires them to work beyond the 8:00am to 5:00pm standard working time. Hospitals must offer services to Kenyans 24 hours round the clock, therefore junior doctors work together with their senior colleagues at night, on weekends and during public holidays. Additionally, the occupational risks for instance needle pricks during procedures in the emergency departments, ward and theatre. HIV, airborne disease such as TB all fall in this category & are compensated for by the risk allowance, The salaries were progressively improved between 2001 - 2017 & have always been a budgetary item on the @MOH_Kenya annual budget. The health workforce expenditure is the MOST important item in any healthcare system, without the workers you CANNOT offer services. The 2016 @srckenya job evaluation survey and report captured all this, the irony is that all this is being disregarded by the same government by reducing the pay to between Kshs, 47,000 - Kshs. 70,000. What we are witnessing is a dishonest and bullish government that neither values professions nor the quality of health care services offered to its citizens.
